Or do you go hoping someone will eventually come talk to you?

Do women mind getting hit on at the gym?

Some do, some don't
Those who want can be spotted easily

It all depends on basic simple rules.
#If the party doing the hitting on is a 9.5965/10 HNGGGGGGG male stud, then women won't mind;
#If the party doing the hitting is a hideous mo'fo, manlet, skinny, no lifting brah, then most certaintly women will mind.
#Basically, for higher chances for success on not creeping and annoying them out, the person doing the hitting has to be on a higher beauty scale than the person getting hit on.....so if you are a 6, you better not go hitting on 7's and 8's, but you have a high chance of not pissing a girl of if she is a 4 or 5.

I find some of them amusing! But you got to love the ones where they get their ass in a wad because you don't agree with them! I have opted to stop reading the comics in the newspaper just to come and hit the female misc to see what kind of crazy questions I get the pleasure of answering! Quite entertaining!

I don't get hit on often so I feel kinda uncomfortable on the rare occasion that it happens. Not to sound snobby, but I really only get hit on by men that I'm not at all interested in.
I probably wouldn't mind it from a good looking guy BUT he would need to be nice about it.. not cocky or douchey.** Current Maxes: **

Not necessarily true. Not every woman who ventures out to man's land wants attention. I know at my old gym back in the states, I didn't have the option if I wanted to actually lift. That didn't mean I wanted to get hit on. Personally I feel uncomfortable being hit on at the gym.

You really should be able to tell if a particular woman wants you to hit on her where ever she might be. They usually make it pretty clear.
Or you can just bite the bullet and move on some chick you think is hot from out of the blue without getting one single signal from her. The worst she can do is say no.
Well...she can also laugh at you, insult you, maybe report you to the management for harassing her and, if she's feeling particularly threatened by your approach she might kick you in the balls but hey...what's life without a little risk, eh?No one raindrop believes it is to be blamed for the flood. -anonymous

It's funny how most of the replies are from males, and "hypothetic scenarios" at that.

I don't know about being "hit on" but I am approached frequently and I do tend to chit chat with lots of people at the gym... both men and women. I don't mind it at all. I like it actually. Just because a guy is friendly or complimentary I don't assume he is trying to pick me up. He could be... or he could just be a nice guy saying hello. Either way it doesn't matter because I'm happily married. What I DO have a problem with, however, is when a guy from the gym finds me on FB, adds me, then proceeds with several unsuccessful attempts to message me... and mentions he is "checking me out." Seriously?
If a guy is interested in a woman at the gym... I don't see anything wrong with saying hello or introducing yourself... complimenting her on her training... etc. Just don't do it mid-set... wait until she puts the weight down and can reply appropriately. If she is someone you see often there is no need to find out her life story the first day. Just say hello when you see her again and eventually that might lead to a conversation. If you chat a little here and there over time and you feel like she could be interested... then ask her out. That's how my husband got me! We saw each other at the gym... a few "hellos" led to a date... the rest is history!

The real question is whether a woman likes being hit on full stop, as this happens everywhere, not only at the gym. So should a woman like being hit on more at the gym as opposed to the grocery store or the dry cleaners? For some maybe; it depends on the woman.

I wouldn't mind a guy approaching me at the gym (not going to happen currently as i'm a fatty but maybe one day :P) even though i'm in a relationship and i would make that very clear at least i might meet a nice new guy friend/ gym buddy.
Oh except if he is much older than me and really gross or creepy then i would probably ask him to leave me alone.

I don't mind being talked to/having guys approach. Just make sure the very first words don't come anywhere close to "omg your ass is sooo..." or "good god I'd like to lay you down and..." Maybe start with hi? I recommend waiting for the good old water fountain break.

I have lots of male friends at the gym, I train with some of them. When we first got talking I did not assume they were hitting on me, just interested in my training. If they were hitting on me I wouldn't mind and I suppose if I was single the Gym would be a good place to meet someone, at least you know you'd have a common interest.
What I do find annoying is when Men look at me when I train in the weights gym, as though this is a no ladies zone. I also find it annoying when certain men think that they have a right to the weights equiptment before me when I'm waiting just because they are men.
The headphones thing is a good point, I put mine in sometimes with no music on, it generally means I don't want to be interupted, so do not talk to me.Winners can try and fail, a failure will fail to try.

Define "much older" and "much younger." If I was 20 and approached by a 40+ y/o, I would see that as creepy in most cases... even if he were good looking. However, at 35 I don't think it would be usual to be approached by an older man... unless he were old enough to be my grandpa. Heck I'm a bit more disturbed by the highschoolers trying to run game on me... LOL

Nope, I don't like getting hit by guys at the gym and it also annoys me how they "stare rape" me when I'm working out at the "men section"

Last night there was a girl doing SLDL with a 30 lb barbell in the mat area for free weights. I couldnt figure out why she carried the barbell all the way over the mats to stand in between the benches. there are plenty of other places to deadlift with more room and less chance of wacking someone with the bar. Then I saw her a** fall out of her shorts at each lift and it was pretty clear. People like that make the rest of us who take it sersiously look bad. or maybe she makes us look better. I'm not sure.
