Joe, Whats your thoughts on pain relievers and training? Tylenol, Mortin, etc.
I try to not take them but sometimes I have to! Am I messing up any Protein absorption or other things that would affect my gains in the gym?

Hi, i really don't care much for them, All medicines can cause side effects, i think if your on them for a very long time your body will adapt to the dosage and you will have to increase the mg. causing a lot of STRESS on your kidneys, and intestinal walls...
BUT here is something that i found interesting , see link for more info; http://www.science20.com/news_releas...se_muscle_mass
Taking daily recommended dosages of ibuprofen and acetaminophen caused a substantially greater increase over placebo in the amount of quadriceps muscle mass and muscle strength gained during three months of regular weight lifting, in a study by physiologists at the Human Performance Laboratory, Ball State University.

That is an interesting link Joe..I'm not sure the good would out weigh the bad in long term use though...Think I'll stick with my Juggernaut and Beta-Cret for muscle/strength gains, healthier I believe..

Hi Joe! Thanks for stopping by my log to welcome me. I just started drinking Juggernaut this week and I've already seen improvement in my workouts without the feeling of being jittery at night so I can actually take my well-deserved sleep and rebuild those muscle fibers.
I'm getting ready for a competition in June and one of my concerns is regarding my abs muscles not being thick enough so that they aren't as defined. Do you have an advice on what kinds of workouts should I be implementing and how often should the exercises be? I've been using my core a lot for most exercises I do. But considering last season, I don't feel they're enough."Just Do IT" - Nike

Thanks Joe for the warm welcome into the Juggernaut challenge, I really do appreciate it. I want to ask, would pylometric training help in achieving a more lean body? I am going to start doing 1 day a week pylo training when I get home from afghanistan in a month and I was just curious. I just like the explosive energy of it, and picked it to be one of the specialties I will like doing as a trainer. But of course I want to continue to learn more and experience it fully for myself first.

Hi, First, thank you for your service, any exercise or type of training will help, but its the combination and the consistency of your diet/training/nutritional intake/ and cardio, is the only true way to maximize your specific goal. check ot this video, it contains boot camp style with some plyometrics exercises...Enjoy

Joe, what is the trick to building big arms? I need my biceps, triceps, and forearms to catch up to my chest. My deltoids aren't too far behind.
Also, a friend of mine who is a girl can't seem to lose weight. She used to weightlift and play soccer in highschool and it didn't help. She does a lot of running now, her legs are solid muscle, but she can't get rid of the fat on her upperbody. What is the trick to lowering the bodyfat percentage in a case like this?"If you are not training 100%, if you are not at 100% you cannot be at this level"-- Dorian Yates

Hi, a few things come into play when building big arms, genetics, diet/nutrition/food, being consistent with different types of stimulating muscle fiber training regiments (not quantity but quality), and plenty of rest,...... be creative with your training regiments, here is an example of a training routine that you only need a few sets but it will give you a great pump, burn, and stimulated muscle fibers that are ready to grow...see video;
About your friend, i need to know some info about her the type and the duration of her training, cardio, the amount of calories/protein/fat/carbs and so on, if she does not have any medical condition example; a thyroid condition, most likely its all of the above and that will need to be corrected and have a customized program developed for her needs.....
have her sign up on here and i will help her with her goal...

Hi Lonnie, thank you for asking, my week end was very busy, lots of stuff going on, im trying to lean out for the FIBO expo in Germany next month and a guest posing appearance coming on a later date in Japan....Im just starting to take Phenyl core again to assist me on getting ready for these events, i don't know of anybody that complained/ had side effects from taking the product, but if she is concerned regarding the ingredient, just ask her to check with her Doctor first, some people might have some reaction to certain fat burners, here is some info that i found; GOOD and BAD ...

Joe, lately when I'm doing lower body exercises, I've been cramping up. For example, last night, my right foot cramped up, affecting 3 toes. I kept going with my exercises anyhow til I finished. No cramp will keep me from training. BUT, I've noticed that this happened for a few weeks now and soon my lower body will catch up endurance-wise with my upper body so I would be lifting heavier weights. Do you have suggestions on how to prevent this?

Hi, cramps can develop when there is a deficiency in potassium, magnesium , calcium, water/ salt. Make sure you get enough of these nutrients in your diet on a daily basis. Some examples of foods that contain these nutrients include bananas, potatoes, yogurt, milk, apricots and orange juice, if not you can always take a supplement, usually when it happens to me i just make sure that im hydrated and then i take a potassium tablet, you also need to take into consideration that legs are a big muscle group and might require a lot more hydration....Here are some other tips that can help; * Massages help to relax the body and help loosen up knots and flush lactic acid from the muscles, which can reduce the chances for cramps. Get massages after you have completed your workouts.*Warm up before you exercise. If you do not warm up before you exercise, then your legs are going to be more apt to cramp up. This is because they are cold and tight.*Avoid dehydrating beverages. Anything that has caffeine in it such as coffee, tea, soda and energy drinks can cause dehydration, which can lead to cramps.

Hi Joe! Thank you for offering up your time to answer questions for all of us!
I just started (officially) the I Am Juggernaut 2012 contest today after receiving my supplements - Juggernaut and Carnitine MTX. I have a couple of questions though...
I have already been lifting for several months but would like to take this 12 weeks and prep nearly like I would for a Figure competition. I'd like to compete someday and would like to practice, I guess! So, a training question: What is better at this point since I have been lifting for awhile, training 6-10 reps going heavy (which I prefer), or training a little lighter at 12-15+ reps? Calorie question: Recently reduced intake to 1400 per day (I am 5'3" 127lbs). Is this enough? Focus is on protein and healthy fats - moderate carbs. Supplement question: can you recommend a supplement for mood and energy support?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, if your goal is to be a figure girl, then you will have to train, eat, think, sleep like one, the high rep range with proper form/controlling/squeezing muscles is the way to go, the only time you should consider going heavy is at a last resort for a short period and that is when a body part needs to be brought up, balanced out, so that they are symmetrical, sexy lean lines, and shaped to perfection.( this should only be with a knowledgeable trainer/person supervision)... Note, to maximize fitness goals,(its not one fits all) they need to be customized with the appropriate cardio/training routine, nutritional/food intake, the judges (especially for woman) are very critical of competitors that they stay with in there guide line of the sport, bodybuilders, fitness, figure, and bikini girls, they all have their look/criteria to follow.... also, i would need more info on your daily intake on carb and protein, the amount of cardio per day, and your training routine,......im here to help, talk to you soon, lets turn you into a juggernaut ....
