I know that he was slightly bulked in this movie, but surrounding him with average, every-day people really lets you get a scope on how big he actually was. His upper body was enormous for the time (1970, I believe). Looked a lot bigger than 240/250.
Also, as a sidenote for the next time any of you watch it... It actually seems as though he gets larger as the movie goes on.

This is the one where on DVD you can watch with Arnold's actual voice or the dub they used in the original release, right?
"Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have."--Ronald Reagan
“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.”--Arnold Schwarzenegger

It's good for a laugh at the acting, but it was one of his first movies. It's up on Hulu - here's the link:

i actually disagree. arnold was great at working his size to his advantage. i don't think he was lying when he said in pumping iron that if he wanted to add another half inch to his delts that he'd have to balance it out throughout the rest of his physique (to paraphrase). he was big, and talented, but a pro at the best skill...controlling spectator perception.
