Hey everyone. I've been posting on bb.com for a while now but thought I would start up a training log in the Powerlifting/Strongman Section. Here's a little something about me....
Name: Thad
Age: 36
Times Competed: 4
Favorite Event: Anything Deadlift related
What I hate: Overhead
My next contest: http://www.nastrongman.com/pdf/2011/WCBBFFP.pdf
Right now I'm hitting overhead 2-3 X per week, Squats and acc. 1 X per week, Deads and events 1 X per week. This afternoon is squats so prepare for some awesomely mediocre lifting!!

Best of luck with the bulk then. It'll be fun. I've really enjoyed the last few pounds I've put on. Eating like a horse and loving every minute of it. Trying to get to 180 this winter.

You also have to be aware of the middle brother (the yellow fly) and the oldest brother (the horse fly)
I've only been training for ~2 years and my background is basketball (college and pro) so I have been a bit apprehensive at making the jump to heavyweight (I've had back surgery). But now, I'm seeing that if I'm going to get the most strength gains my body will allow, I'm going to have to put on some weight.
EDIT: I just took a closer look at your avi....Nice (although if it was Beam you would have gotten some greens)
They will carry your kids away if they aren't strapped down. I'm in the NE corner of NC and the Dismal Swamp breeds some beauties!!!

haha. yeah they seem bad in some areas. I've mainly visited the beaches so they weren't quite as bad there. I have family in Emerald Isle/Morehead. But we camped one time and they were terrible at night.
EDIT: page one and we're already derailing the thread to talk about killer bugs. haha.

Today is an off day (School Board Meeting )
Friday is Axle Push Press, Axle Cleans and just some general tricep accessory awesomeness.
Saturday will be Deads, Stones, probably some 50' speed runs with the yolk at about 450-500 lbs. I'll probably finish with some tire flip/farmers walk/prowler for conditioning (1 of the medleys in my upcoming contest)

Off days suck. Yesterday was mine. Ended up doing a short cardio session. Ridiculously boring.
Saturday sounds fun. I just learned how to DL recently and it's become my favorite lift, even though my numbers are below embarassing. Working on getting some tires soon. Moving Sept 1st then I'm gonna start piecing together an arsenal of stuff.

Deads are my favorite lift by far...squats need to be because when they go up, so does my dead. I work out in my garage and at my workout partner's garage. Craig's List and patience are your best friends if you're looking to get a gym. What part of VA are you in? He welds and makes all kinds of equipment.
I just want to belong

I'm in Roanoke. It's Southwest Va. I'm like 2.5 hours from charlotte. I'm gonna keep an eye on craigslist for a few things. Saw a good deal on a squat rack last month but I'm still in a 2 bedroom townhouse and broke, so I couldn't pick it up yet.. Luckily I'm near the country so tractor tires should be an easy find. Then I'm gonna slowly piece stuff together when I have extra money. Remodeling the house I just purchased so I'm gonna be paying bills for a couple months. Hoping to get started around January and maybe try my first competition next fall. All of my lifts need to go up, and I need to learn the technique for different events. I've never tried any of them yet, but really think I'd enjoy it.

You realize that I actually have to subscribe to this journal now. Not as easy to find as the other one.
Which also leads to me having to check my CP, consiquently taking up more of my day. Better notify the shareholders to get out now.
