Do your job, be mentally tough enough to put us with the BS you'll get from most Marines, have enough sack to put those Marines in their place when needed, be in good physical shape to keep up with the riggers of training. If you get attached to a grunt unit, pay extra attention during combat training so you don't do something stupid that would kill yourself or someone else.

3)During Bootcamp (I have a Wierd question and i will explain why) Is there a great possibility of breaking your nose? like do you engage in movements that could break bones? Especially the nose? The reason why is becuase about 8 months ago i had to get surgery on my nose becuase it was severely deviated and crooked, and underwent a 4 hour surgery that came out a success, my nose is much straighter and i can actually breath out of it! So It would suck a lot if marine bootcamp was just like asking to rebreak my nose and cause it to be crooked again But whats your input on this? I also heard they took out the boxing part in bootcamp as too many poeple were getting hurt from it

4)How does it feel to be a marine? Do you feel any different?

Thanks in advise, i really appreciate it
Like someone said earlier, it's not the exercises, it's constantly getting hazed and messed with. You can't say "I" anymore, you can't say "he". You can't scratch your face, you can't MOVE in any way unless told not to. Think about that for a second. Think about all the things you may do that you don't even think about. Scratching your leg, moving in your seat, rolling off your heels after standing for 10 minutes and shifting your legs a little bit. None of that.

I have friends who are/were reservists and they would constantly complain about going to drill. I always told them to quit their freakin' whining, they signed up for it and it's only a weekend.

If you break your nose again in boot and it's crooked, you'll simply get the surgery again to have it straightened for free. Don't worry about that crap.

How did it feel? To be honest? It sucked a lot of the time. But there were plenty of moments that made it all the worthwhile. You'll never make better friends or brother anywhere. You'll never meet more interesting people. You'll never have such interesting experiences when you're out. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Absolutely.

Corpsmen do alot more then dispense moltrin. He will need to learn everything about the US Marines history, especially for FMF. Im coming to the conclusion that you are a reservist? You think we drop marine corps history right after boot? you might, i and most of the marines in active units don't, im pretty proud in the fact that i know where and who i came from.

I was going to say that judging by his signature he was just joking but...at the same time I don't know anyone that has been in combat even throw out a statement like that about a Corpsman/medic of any kind.

Navy EOD is the only branch where the EOD techs are considered SPEC OPS. They are dive and jump qual'd and the only ones who deal with sea mine disposals. They do a lot of harbor clearing and the likes. They also get attached to RECON and SF teams. But other than that it's all pretty much the same.

Yes the Flushing Marine history and the Motrin dispenser were jokes. Sorry for trying to have a little fun. No disrespect was intended.

Yes, I was a Reservist, but Marine Corps History was not taken lightly. We had it drilled into us at EVERY turn. At my first unit (Tucson), we had to memorize EVERY Marine that won the MoH and what they did to earn it plus memorize every Marine Corps Commandant. At my second unit (Phoenix), we had to turn in a book report each drill on a book from the Commandant's Reading List. Over the years, I ran into a few Marines I knew from Tucson, and they were talking about having to watch documentaries on Marine Corps Battles and History, or recalling casualty figures from things like Belleau Boods, or the Inchon landing. The Phoenix unit just did classroom lectures oh history.

On a side note, I knew Corpsman went through Combat Training, but I had no clue they they also studies Marine Corps History.

    Thanks for the knowledge guys!

    I appreciate it.

Honestly,I WANT to be a marine...But I want medical expertise as well.I am fine with joining the Navy and being a sailor technically. That is fine.

I know I can hang with Marines physically and mentally too.I am not worried about that.

Should I make good gains on pull-ups without a program like recon ron, or the Armstrong program?

I find it too tempting to just do them pretty much everytime I enter my room, and just at intervals throughout my whole day... not sure if this is very beneficial though.

    So?

Do you want better results at the cost of having to stay home for 2-3 days, or get LASIK just because it'll be good a few hours earlier.

I find it too tempting to just do them pretty much everytime I enter my room, and just at intervals throughout my whole day... not sure if this is very beneficial though.
Pretty much any of those options will lead to making steady gains... Do whichever feels better for you.

You have to figure out what branch you want first.

Marine officers who are not prior enlisted are judge on how they take care of their people and how good they are at there job. That's how I judged them.

If you're a moron, or someone who doesn't take care of your Marines you will be figured out early on.

You're judged by what you DO, not by your previous job.

That is completely nothing to worry about bro.
    Disregard Everything, Acquire Aesthetics Crew

Dear Frederick, thank you for your nice letter, but I am actually a US Marine who was born to kill, whereas clearly you seem to have mistaken me for some sort of wine sipping, communist dick suck. And although peace probably appeals to tree hugging bi-sexuals like you and your parents, I happen to be a death-dealing, blood-crazed warrior who wakes up every day just hoping for the chance to dismember my enemies and defile their civilizations.

Agreed. It shouldn't matter how others look upon them.
How do YOU look up to them? If you're considering joining, it should be something you aspire to be, something you know you will have to work hard and really push yourself to obtain. In which case, Marine OCS is going to be a definite challenge for 99% of the candidates.

I understand it ultimately is up to the needs of the Corps, but what are my chances of getting stationed in Japan if I pick it? Is it more likely than any of the other choices? Thanks in advance.

I passed my DLAB today, so I should get my intel contract. Are there any Marines on the MISC with an Intel MOS I could PM?

Why the hell would you want to go to Okinawa, especially as a junior Marine. LOL

I'm telling you right now, unless you like having a midnight curfew on an island where most the locals hate you - don't bother.
"Why in the Hell can't the Army do it if the Marines can; they are all the same kind of men, why can't they be like Marines?"
