A little reality check is in order here. These home invasions were just what I found on a search of PA home invasions on ABC news. There are many more examples on that page alone, but all need not be posted here.

Consider your "night stand gun" and your ability to fight off 7 armed men with it. If your house gun isn't fed by this:

I've bought two KCI mags, one works great, the other I ended up trashing. Had a bunch of overmold and wouldn't feed reliably.

I understand the whole "be prepared for anything" mindset, but I also like to balance that out with a bit of rationality.

Whoa now, a water cooled 30 cal on a tripod pointed at the bedroom door is probably irrational. A proper rifle with one spare mag attached to it is simply prudence.

My gun cabinet is right next to my side of the bed, and pretty much everything in it is loaded. If someone breaks into my house they'd better hope they catch me taking a shower or watering my garden in the back yard and not sleeping in my bed.
