Ok so here is my routine.... and I need some help with with my lifting workout.
I am 6 foot 3, I weigh 285 pounds, I am trying to get down to like 210 or 205. I go to the gym six days a week and on the 7th day I do yoga. And I need some help with my diet too if anyone has any tips.
So for Cardio I get on the treadmill and run about 3/4 of a mile for now.. and when I am able to i will kick it up a notch to one mile. And then more.
Also for cardio I run on the stationary bike for about 20 minutes.
Then I play some basketball for 30 minutes.
And as for the weight lifting routine I'm looking for some help on... I would like to just stick to the machines like leg curl machines, bicep curl machines.. you know.. just no bench presses or squats. I can do barbell curls and also work with dumbbells but not anything huge until I get to the point where I'm ready.
I'm guessing the best thing to do would be less weight more reps? So... just looking for a good workout routine for the chest, shoulders, back, legs, triceps, abs, and biceps.
So if someone can please help me with a routine I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I am NOT in any way a bodybuilder or senoir member to this site, I'm still learning the basics, but I can tell you that lifting weights will help you lose weight from personnel experience and info on the forums. Muscle burns more calories than say a normal or flabby arm so the more muscle on your body you have, the more weight will be lost because your body will need more energy to maintain your new muscles. Also squats, deadlift, bench are not really "harsh" it is all how you go about doing them. Any workout can be "harsh" or pathetic, it is up to how far you push yourself.

bump. its not harsh. rippetoes you start with the bar, thats 45lbs. every workout you increase the weight a little. Squats, deadlifts and the other exercise are the simply the best. THAT is the way you gain strength. to lose fat you have to eat below maintainence.
