I dont know for certain, but I would say that considering we are looking at a large loss of human life, potentially 800 + home losses, countless animal and stock losses that the wind was going quite fast for more than 2 minutes.

We sent about 3000 (I think about that many, maybe less) of our firefighters to help you guys.

Normally we send you some of our firefighters during your bushfire season and you send us your helitankers during ours, which I might point out have been buzzing over my house for the past three days. They are bloody loud and bloody huge (compared to the choppers we normally get flying over)

bpp, communications to these remote areas is down mostly, they don't have warnings, and in some places the fire is closing in from all directions - there's like 26 separate fires going. someone said earlier that one is 60miles (or km's can't remember) wide, that travelling at 60 miles an hour... hence why people are being burned alive in their cars whilst trying to escape.
