Long story short, I injured my knee, had a surgery on July of 07, gained about 60 lbs and I just found out I need a second surgery! I want to lose as much as possible for good so I can have a easy recovery.
I was advised by the specialist to not to put any unnecessary pressure on my knee! So other than short walking nothing else! No running or working out!
What can I do!? Help me out with my diet and some sort of upper body cardio ( if there are any )
I'm;
308 lbs
6"00" tall
male
and 20 years old
Thanks in advance

How many reps would you think I should do? I have never worked out before, but since I started a while ago, I have been doing 10 sets of 12 reps on each area!
Usually at the end of the 9th set I start to struggle and by the middle of the 10th set I just fail! So take a while to finish off the last 6 reps

Can you use a recumbent bike?
If not, get one of those lap bikes and pedal like mad with your arms for about an hour a day. Do some upper body weight training...
You can do just about anything with arms, chest, back, shoulders...
GO SWIMMING!!!!
As far as diet goes, common sense will work well here. If it seems unhealthy dont eat it. Stick to natural foods and make healthy choices. You should probably work on keeping your calories around 25-2700 to start and slowly slowly slowly work your way down. You are a prime candidate for getting skinny fat so dont lose weight too quickly...Last edited by adwilk; 01-23-2009 at 08:23 PM.

Im not sure about the "recumbent bike" but Im seeing the specialist this coming monday, so i'll ask him!
What he told me was that to cut anything that put unnecessary pressure on my knee! So I even gave up my long walk to school and drive now!
One thing after I got my FIRST surgery was thinning of the articular cartilage which is the cause of Arthritis at the older age and at the weight I am he told me the thinning process can speed up!
so relying on diet and upper body workout are my only options
I have been thinking about swimming as well, I just need to fit it into my busy school schedule
