Is everyone getting Covid by where you live?

Here in NY several people (friends and family) are getting it, its spreading like crazy. I mean I know already like 20 people who have gotten it in the last two days. My wife, she always gets nervous, went and got tested becuase friends and family that were with us now have it, but she came back negative. I don't have any symptoms so I am not getting tested.

As an FYI everyone we know who has gotten it is vaccinated.

My niece tested positive bu I don't know if she had any severe symptoms, other than that I don't know anyone else...

I think it's just a matter of time before we all test positive....

When it's all said and done, we're gonna look back and say it was a 4 or 5 year long flu or cold season..

Well no, my sister had some friends very sick from it and one even died from it, and they were not old and did not already have srs health issues so…. think before you type *******. I believe Covid is also exaggerated too but this is a very real problem we are dealing with. Viewing it as no more dangerous than a cold or the flu is just stupid imo, it IS more dangerous.

Well I'm typing what I hear, I heard the majority who are vaxxed are ok and was no reason to be alarmed. I believe even Joe Biden said this (of course he is a liar) but he is also making a huge point on being boastered.

I know, people are just crazy one way or the other either downplaying it too much (sending kids back to school, having huge gatherings, etc) or they go to extreme with their paranoia (wearing masks alone in their car, demanding others wear their mask while outdoors keeping 6 feet apart, etc). Unbalanced people with unbalanced views bro.

And anyone in the home who is eligible for vaccination or a booster dose If anyone I live with were to get COVID-19, I would be resigned to the idea that I would get it, too.It's especially important to try to avoid spreading the infection to anyone who's at higher risk from ...You may worry about getting the virus, the length of the pandemic and the consistently follow public health recommendations and restrictions where you live.

Think of it this way.
This thing is new and the advice changes as they learn more about it.
The year i got the flu shot i got wrecked by the flu for 5 days, because what was in the needle...... wasn't the flu ***strain**** that i was exposed to.
Same deal with Omicron now.

Guess I'm lucky or something cause haven't seen any of it (around me) since it started. Ran into 2 ppl early on that claimed they had had it, but that's it for me. No relatives have gotten it either and they live spread out in 5 different cities.

What I am hearing is the symptoms are mostly mild and the hospitals are not overwhelmed.

I have decided to stay away from the gym until my booster has full effect probably in about two weeks

They are sending free testing kits home from school with the kids here. I honestly think they are pushing crazy amounts of testing, so as many people can test positive as possible--then they can pull the "herd immunity" card when enough people do--and then be done with all the ineffective masking and vaccinating stuff.

In the past week had two old friends in their early 50s die of Covid. Don't know if it was the variant.

My daughters have a college swim team trip to Florida scheduled for this weekend and some on their team have gotten Covid, so they're nervous about the trip. Covid is mild for 20 year olds, and the Omicron variant seems quite mild, and barely a blip if they're vaccinated, but they don't want it spreading so the students who get it can't go on the trip. No talk yet of shutting down the trip altogether.

Bad upstate too. Ive had a handful of people I know come down with it in the past week. It ran through one of my gyms too. Both vaxxed and unvaxxed and one of the unvaxxed had to get that monowhateveritscalled therapy.

Several people around here have gotten it, most were vaxed and they had minimal symptoms. A friend at work who isn't vaxed contracted it (his wife too), and they both had semi-severe symptoms but they didn't need hospitalization.

I'm repeating a previous comment that still holds true: my wife is an RN on the primary Covid unit at a hospital in Louisville. By primary, I mean that her floor is the first/original unit with 21 beds, and when her unit is full, then they can and have opened up a 2nd, 3rd, and part of a 4th. There are also covid patients in ICU when the other Covid units max out on options to keep the patients O2 numbers within range. 80+ percent of her patients are not vaxed. Every nurse on her unit have had unvaxed patients ask if it they could get the jab "now," but unfortunately, it's too late at that point.

Edit: A nephew and his wife contracted it and they are both unvaxed, and their symptoms weren't too bad. They wouldn't take the jab but couldn't wait to get the monoclonal antibodies (or whatever it's called).

That is weird. I guess some of the patients might not be telling the truth, but that info should be verifiable if the hospitals wanted to check.

I'd bet there is a correlation with percentages of vaccinated people. Higher vaccinated populations (NY) will have more vaccinated people in ICU, lower vaccinated populations (IN) will have a greater number of unvaccinated people in ICU.

Of course if the majority of people are vaccinated, it's inevitable that vaccinated people will show up in hospitals, it's how serious the illness and deaths associated with the admissions that are important.

Can’t say its covid for sure though… unless they made the tests 100% accurate.

But then again it’s that time of the year where everyone gets a cold or the flu… so whatever.

One of my employees tested positive (he says). Full vax and boosted and no symptoms. Thinking he just wanted the week off. Other than that my neighbor had a cold and thought it may have been Covid but wasn’t sure. It’s seeming like there are a lot fewer people out sick this year.
