How talented was Ozzy Osbourne as a vocalist?

His vocal abilities aren't amazing compared to other metal singers, but his voice suited sabbath's music well. Instantly recognizable too.

You know…..I gotta admit to being an idiot because it was less than a decade ago that I learned that a lot of lead singers don’t actually write their own songs….

I would listen to Suspicious Minds by Elvis. Always loved that song. And then I read the Wikipedia page and it says “Written by so and so….” And I was like wtf? I thought that every lead singer wrote their own lyrics as if to say “This is what’s on my mind and this is what I wanna sing about.” Kinda took the wind outta my sails a bit. But I guess if they can wrap their minds around the words and find meaning to it then that’s fine as long as the song is catchy.

Id agree that Ozzy was probably more talented as a song writer than a vocalist, but he was more than good enough to be a legend. Black Sabbaths guitarist, randy Rhodes was one of the goats though.

He"s actually underrated in terms of raw talent from his prime. See him hit low notes in their first album, high notes in later albums.

Daisley wrote most of the stuff chief
