Random question.....goes back to Air France 447 and potentially this flight.....but if your going to crash right into the ocean, is death right away? The Air France flight always trips me out because it was in the middle of the night and they were dropping like a brick.....did the passengers even know they were going down? How quick was death for them?

I think US Air Marshals only fly on flights to and from the US? Anyone know for sure? Also do any other countries have similar agencies armed on flights?

"The flight data recordings stopped at 02:14:28 UTC, or 3 hours 45 minutes after takeoff. At that point, the aircraft's ground speed was 107 knots, and it was descending at 10,912 feet per minute. Its pitch was 16.2 degrees (nose up), with a roll angle of 5.3 degrees left. During its descent, the aircraft had turned more than 180 degrees to the right to a compass heading of 270 degrees. The aircraft remained stalled during its entire 3 minute 30 second descent from 38,000 feet[30] before it hit the ocean surface at a speed of 151 knots (280 km/h), comprising vertical and horizontal components of both 107 knots. The aircraft broke up on impact; everyone on board died, presumably instantaneously."
280km/h straight into the ground. probably instant death from traumatic injury from deceleration.Boston Misc Crew

People are delusional about a gun going off in a plane and the plane being torn to pieces/everyone sucked out. It would cause a loss in cabin pressure, but commercial flights are filled to 2/3 atmosphere when at cruising altitude therefore the pressure difference isn't enough to rip the plane apart from a 9mm - .50" hole This has been tested several times on ground simulations with similar pressure ratios. The pilots most definitely could and should carry weapons. If they wanted to go crazy and kill everyone they could easily do it without a gun.

Let's get real guys. This was hijacking practice by some extremist group. The fact that it turned its transponder off, cut off all radio contsct and flew back over Malaysia for over an hour shows the plane was fine

the only thing about the ****lia theory would be the time it takes to get there
i would assume once it went past the scheduled arrival time, some of the passengers would start to question things
so i would think it would have gone somewhere within the time frame it took to reach Beijing at the most

IMO
the airplane malfunctioned so the pilot tried going back to Malaysia
it got lost and went off course in the middle of nowhere
some military ppl (dont know what nationality) saw it and shot it down by accident

i thought most countries with a capable airforce would scramble jets to defend its airspace. i don't think the malaysia airforce would've just watched a jumbo jet stray off its course. now with the information we got, it seems they just sat there doing nothing. that just pisses me off, ontop of the useless airport security.

My question wasn't meant to sound sarcastic. I don't know what type of air force the Malaysians have, but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't have many ready to fly planes. They also may not have considered a commercial jet a risk. Or there's a bunch of bureaucracy. Or they're incompetent.

I'm a member over at airliners.net and this topic has been conversed about extensively.
The consensus is the passengers had no idea what was going on. They would have felt some turbulence and the initial vertical acceleration which would have probably masked itself as turbulence. Thankfully for the passengers, they were dead without knowing anything was going on.Maple Leafs - Chelsea FC - Toronto FC
