I'm not entirely sure that transferring into a t14 helps to get into biglaw. The transfers to my school generally did very well, but I think it's all because of their huge success at their former school, so it might have made more sense to just squeeze out more money from the school they were already in. On the other hand, I'm not sure how big an incentive a school has to offer you more money. The reason they give scholly's in the first place is to attract higher gpa's and lsat scores which boost their ranking. Obviously, that incentive would be moot here. When it comes time to apply for the transfer, you should definitely get into contact with others who transferred into the t14 and get their perspective on all of this.

Also, be prepared to do two writing competitions, which is no doubt hellish.

Law school is fine. I put in a stupid amount of work but it worked out. Also, I'm engaged and don't go out much beyond dinner with friends/couples so I'm prolly the wrong person to ask about the sloots.

Also, just want to say this - you should never plan on transferring. Never go to a school you aren't 100% willing to graduate from, as about 90-95% of the class (sometimes higher) won't be able to transfer out. I did remarkably well but with a forced curve this means that many others did poorly. This is in no means meant to detract you from going in with the attitude of killing it but be humble and be realistic as well. O, and good luck!

I agree with this. I do like my school, doing a summer start class, but I would like to move up in rankings a little in terms of schools. If it doesn't happen it won't crush me but I would love to move up the rankings lol

I got my CPA and MBA before going to law school...if you have any specific questions, shoot. Most people who get law degree and CPA end up as tax lawyers, obviously.

Yup. These guys likely went to a TT or lesser law school or had less than median grades at a higher ranked school. Still though, law school is often an objectively bad decision, especially if you have to take on a huge debt load to do it and you don't go to a T14 school. These outlets serve a purpose of warning about the grim reality of the current legal market.

I'm not in law school or ever plan on going. I just came across these two sites by accident and found the subject interesting. Is it really that bad for most law school students? Most of the people on the site make it seem like the majority of law students will never ever practice unless they you have connections and go to the very top schools.

While the legal market definitely isn't great right now, most people (at my school anyways) are atleast finding jobs. I go to the main state school in a Midwestern state. I'm definitely in the bottom half of the class and have a job (passed OCS last summer) and I know a few others who are also in the bottom half of class rank that have their jobs lined up for after 3L year already as well.

The people that make the sites and articles complaining about never having a job are the people with useless undergrad basket weaving majors who also have terrible interview/people skills and therefore cannot find a job.

There are over 150 accredited and ranked law schools in a HIGHLY saturated legal market. The employment numbers for law students in schools outside of the top 20ish schools is not what a layman would expect them to be. You truly have to be a superstar at a lesser school to have a shot at a market paying firm or go to a top 6ish school. The whole industry is uber prestige driven; that's why there's this obsession with school and class ranking. People may have jobs that are coming out of lesser schools but they are not rolling in the dough, unlike the common misconception.
