lmao, I shat bricks towards the end.

I love PG, I feel his licks have become so much better and a lot more complex on "Silence Followed by a Deafening Roar". Esepcially on "The Gargoyle". Excellent technicality.

On that note, anyone attempted to learn any of his stuff?

So guys, I'm learning this song now:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9to1auUNTk

but I can't get any volume out of the top three strings, especially compared to the bass. I can play it on my electric but it doesn't sound nearly as good as acoustic. Any tips to get more volume, except hit the strings harder? lol

practice makes perfect but you could try using a mic if its not an acoustic/electric guitar you are using. Notice how his mic is positioned

Hey CTGblue - what are your thought on shawn lanes power licks and solo's ebook?

the first few pentatonic exercises toyed with odd fingering avoid the pinky, i dunno how much good it will be. (you know all those 1-3 1-3 finger patterns used to play all pentatonic shapes?)

I'm converting the videos now, but he is a monster, he can stretch like malmsteen, especially for not having unusually long fingers
anything he talks about is amazing, but most people just cannot do these things, even with extraordinary practice and dedication
and he's so laid back about it, "here's some licks a 220bpm all over the fretboard" - "here's them slowed to 160bpm, see they're easy"

at one time, my band frontman compared me to him - having opened for BOA,
I though it was cool but had only heard his stuff from BOA,
now that I know his full stuff, I'm embarrassed to have been compared to him,
I was never in that league, not even close

Speaking of videos- where are yours? We all know you're the best...what's keeping you from proving it?
