I'm on my 10th or 11th car (+4 motorcycles) at the age of 24 , so I'd say I'm pretty close to being a car dealer.

Me too man. I used to race cars for a nice little living for a few years. Made some cash from winning street races, and track events. Then sold all my project cars to get an edumacation at a Kollege.

tl;dr

I banked off of them because I bought a car for 500 dollars from a friend, got in an accident months later in the car. I was quoted 1800 dollars to fix it and received a check in the mail. It was actually only going to cost 500 dollars to fix the dent and headlight on the car, but I didnt fix it. Sold the car DAMAGED to carmax for 1600 dollars. LULZ

That chunk of change gained went as a down payment for the next car.

but i didn't really make money off them because it was money i was owed. If anything, i lost money because the money they gave me is not equal to the value that my car dropped from getting into an accident. When i went to get quotes they said an aftermarket bumper would not work on a new civic and quoted me for a factory one or whatever you call it. But then when the lady's insurance guy came, he said that they were bsing me and that an aftermarket bumper is fine and gave me like $100-$200 less than those original quotes. So, most likely, i got like $500 for $700 worth of damage to my car if i don't change the bumper. And if i do change the bumper, the color won't match exactly and people will be able to notice and thus the value of the car will be lower than had that lady not crashed into me. But the thought of getting $500 for "nothing" just gives people the illusion that they "made" money off their car insurance company.

bodyshops know they aren't going to get a new OEM bumper on an insurance estimate, they write a new OEM on the off chance that you're stupid and pay the difference. so, no, you got the $500 or so that the damage is actually worth, not the overwritten estimate that a bodyshop provided you.

the amount your vehicle dropped from a cosmetic bumper impact is virtually nothing, and will only affect the value if you leave it unrepaired.

the color doesn't match on your vehicle right now, guaranteed. flop from a bumper to quarter panel is present on all TP or TPO bumpers.

her company sucks/ you should've raised hell with insurance adjuster / you should've checked with another shop.
dunno if the laws vary from state to state, but anytime I've been in an accident, the claims adjuster looked at my car, wrote me a check, then I was free to do what I needed to do. I could pocket the money, find a shop to do the work for less, or take it to a good shop, and if it was going to be over the amount the insurance company quoted, they had to deal with the insurance company and negotiate the price.

It might be the same, but the thing is I pocketed the money, for now. So I had to take what they gave me. But if I went to a shop and they said an aftermarket bumper won't work or that there is more damage than they initially though, then I'm guessing I can go back to the insurance company and get more money. It is even possible that they know most college students will pocket the money, and so they underestimate and give less money. I'm not sure if that is legal, we would have to ask Bill. But I should probably atleast take my bumper off one day and see if the foam is broken or if the frame is damaged.

I have pulled it off twice lol. Got in a fender bender in my 04 Saturn Ion Redline (dent proof body), and I just popped it out my self and buffed teh scratched and used some pen paint to make it look good as new lol

Then proceeded to pocket the nice fat check they sent me for a new bumper

I did say "teach me then" in an earlier post but you never taught me how health/car insurance works.

How is this fighting? Its more like learning/informative posts. I know its the powerlifting section and all, but we are allowed to talk/learn other things as well. I'm probably gonna have a career in less than a year, and obviously there is alot of sh!t I don't know that I should know.

I've never dated a Persian woman before. But by going through my family, I would have to agree. My mom is pretty crazy and materialistic. I have cousin who went to Iran and came back with a nose job and boob job and thought nobody would notice. The men are a bit more normal. My dad works his a$$ off every day and makes a ton of money and then chooses not to spend it. He's never been back to Iran since he left 20+ years ago and I can't remember the last time he's been on vacation or done something fun for himself.

Most of the guys are pretty cool and super good students. The girls are hit or miss with school out here, but almost all of them are smoking hot.

Ended up with a mazdaspeed3 about a year later. I miss that car sometimes.

Yea, in my family, all the adult males are doctors/engineers/business men and easily make $100k+/year. Most of the adult females are stay at home wives or nurses. But as far as the new generation, the females seem to be doing better in school. One cousin went to Stanford, female. Another cousin double majored at FSU and got a 4.0 gpa, female. Another cousin graduated from FIU and works for the Apple Store, male. My brother is doing Oceanography, I don't even know what job he is going to get with that. And I'm barely making it through grad school.

A guy I knew in the military had a old evo or something similar w/ a turbo. I guess the retard decided to change to regular oil and then preceded to never change the oil for around 100k miles. So you know the engine exploded and all that nonsense.
