When you send or receive messages, we also temporarily collect, process and store the contents of those messages (such as photos, videos, captions and/or Chats) on our servers. The contents of those messages are also temporarily stored on the devices of recipients. Once all recipients have viewed a Snap, we automatically delete the Snap from our servers and our Services are programmed to delete the Snap from the Snapchat app on the recipients' devices. Similarly, our Services are programmed to automatically delete a Chat after you and the recipient have seen it and swiped out of the chat screen, unless either one of you taps to save it. Please note that users with access to the Replay feature are able to view a Snap additional times before it is deleted from their device and if you add a Snap to your Story it will be viewable for 24 hours. Additionally, we cannot guarantee that deletion of any message always occurs within a particular timeframe. We also cannot prevent others from making copies of your messages (e.g., by taking a screenshot). If we are able to detect that the recipient has captured a screenshot of a Snap that you send, we will attempt to notify you. In addition, as for any other digital information, there may be ways to access messages while still in temporary storage on recipients' devices or, forensically, even after they are deleted. You should not use Snapchat to send messages if you want to be certain that the recipient cannot keep a copy.
Did they lie in their privacy statement?

Read that half of Snapchat's userbase is under-18. Would not touch anything related to these leaks, if real, unless you want a reason to spend decade in jail for half of the photos/videos you look at.
Also read that it's people who used "SnapSave" to save images sent to them that have dun goofed.Aria Company crew

I'm not touching chit. And I'd advise everybody else not to (FOR REAL)
But lol at your grandiose self image. You know how many people are going to look at that chit? Think they can arrest everybody? You know how much time and money that would cost?
Now downloading something may be different. But still .. millions and millions of people will download that chit. They're more worried about the person distributing it (which is why downloading it may get you in trouble)..but I'll bet a lot of money they won't do chit, IF a ton of people download it

It was an obvious hyperbole that people could tangibly understand so that they stay safe. Nothing to do with how I see myself. You might not want to jump that gun so quickly in the future.
You're right, they're more worried about distributors, but like films, TV shows, music, etc. there are still token cases where people get made an example of.Aria Company crew

It all goes into a databank forever. All the people who look at it that is. For all we know in 10 years every person who uses the internet will have their own file that can be easily navigated within the NSA. They're continually upgrading their systems. We have no idea how efficient these systems will become in future.

Explain cause im ignorant if that's for real
I know it saves on phones, computers, perhaps routers and what not..but i dont think one huge database for everything. First of all the companies have a limited capacity. Company like Google can keep chit for something like 7 years
Also..there are a ton of pop ups and re-directs on the internet..how would they know if the person got there on their own volition or not? Now downloading something is easy to prove..
Edit: nvm you explained a little more
Whatever..guess if you don't do anything you have nothing to worry about

He's exaggerating based on all that stuff that came from Edward Snowden last year. Not like any of it was actual news, but it confirmed what most tin-foil hat conspiracy theorists had speculated and given some scope to the breadth of the project, like being able to host everything that goes through the Transatlantic Internet cables (i.e. just about everything on the Internet) for at least a month.
Being able to do that and the way people's online lives are tied to their real ones, it's not outside of the realms of reason, no matter how paranoid it may sound, that in the future, as technology improves and more data can be stored, that it would be entirely possible to build a profile of somebody based on their Internet activity. It's like how if you have a Gmail account, every search you make on Google can be tied back to that account, but on a much grander scale.
The whole nothing to hide means nothing to fear mantra is a crock of chit anyway, because you can abuse it with ease.
brb, you have nothing to hide, so let us set up CCTV in your house or stream video 24/7 on to the Internet
brb, nothing to hide, so upload your latest bank statement.
brb, nothing to hide, so send me a message every 30 mins with your exact location and what you are doing.
Most people wouldn't want to divulge that information, but there's a thing called personal privacy that we should all be entitled to, but that's going off on a tangent.Aria Company crew
