Exactly. That's why I've stated that they've backed themselves into a corner. Figures someone ELSE from the WWE forum with half an ounce of intelligence and integrity. I wish I could say the same for the majority of this forum. But good luck trying to convince Big Poppa Porky oops! I mean, BigPoppaProppy to see things that way. (Or the rest of this forum, for that matter.) I just love it: The second you say anything remotely bad about MMA or UFC in particular, the forum regulars around here get their panties in a bunch. They feel like can just go on ridiculing the likes of Brock Lesnar, WWE, and Professional Wrestling in general without any rebuttal. Well, I'm here to tell you guys: As long as I'm around, that's not going to happen.

Exactly. There's no winning for UFC here. They shoot down the fight, they look weak. The take the fight, and Silva loses, they look weak. Silva beats Jones, he beat a 40-year old has-been. They might as well take the fight. (Although I'm sure some idiot here will disagree with me. Actually, probably more than one. ) Simply because of the fact that they might as well take as much money for the fight as they can.

It would make them alot of money but they would also make alot of money with Silva fighting Forrest, not as much infact maybe not even close but it would still sell. Lets look at it this way.
Dana's number 1 pound4pound fighter is beat...
By Forrest - ok he looses some of his aura, but he beaten by an ex-champ and a guy who is a weight class above him and his huge and also a very marketable and liked guy.and then Silva go's back to cleaning up 185. also chances are this is going to be alot more entertaining then Silva v RJJ.
By RJJ - In the octagon he gets beat, he's beaten by an aged fighter who is i hate to say it as he is a boxing legend (past it). Silva's rep as allegid pound4pound king is gone, he suffers a huge loss which is carear would suffer and not only that but the UFC's image is put at risk by a past it boxer who comes and and takes out the UFC's best fighter in his own backyard and fighting to his rules. complete disaster
I know the likelyhood of RJJ beating Silva is nigh on impossible especially in an MMA match, but tbh the risk just outweighs the cost.Last edited by shepz; 05-06-2009 at 05:36 PM.
