I started my weight loss journey at about your size. I was 6'2", 279lbs. When I first started I ate 2000 calories. It was actually pretty tough for the first month or so but I got used to it. after a couple months I worked my way down to 1500 calories and that's the lowest I've ever went. I weighed myself a couple days ago at 179lbs and when I cut now I eat at around 1800 calories. I have ate at a deficit for so long now(on and off for about 2 years) that it's almost second nature to me. A cut doesn't bother me at all.

weird, when i started cutting i went bananas with it and lost LBM and strength and i gained all of it back on a deficit once i started eating like a normal human being.

Very interesting, I'm 5'11 242 and I just started to cut (got cleared to workout again after a knee surgery). I was setting my caloric intake at 2500, but now wondering if I should go lower.

Dont just look at mine and think you have to adjust. I wasnt getting much if any lifting or cardio in for a while when at 2500 cals so you could use the cals mabey. But yea see what works for you and post your updates if you want in here. Just take it one day at a time then in a few weeks when you notice you look in a little better shape will be worth it.

The gyno is genetic and all-natural unfortunately. I restarted the whole weightloss process this past January at 360 after knee surgery. So my progress pictures are all old. I'll post up some new ones eventually and still planning on surgery after I am down to a reasonable weight. -- I've been gaining strength throughout the whole weightloss process, but I was in pretty miserable shape to start with. Been using a lot of caffeine to keep energy up though.

Gyno is what many call gynecomastia - the presence of breast tissue in males. It's mainly genetic, and mine is a result of being overweight at a young age. Just like fat girls, fat guys will have bigger boobs than skinny ones. That breast tissue doesn't go away on its own though, which is why I'm getting the surgery.

    From personal experience:

I weighed 281 at my max, had tons of muscle mass because of football. I decided to do keto, got down to 243, can't tell you how much muscle I lost but I noticed I lost a lot of fat. The reason I don't care about muscle loss is because I want to lose my larger frame, I developed a very wide body and I hate it. I did fine at eating 1500-2k cals a day of no/low carb foods. Your body adjusts to your living conditions, I lost lots of fat and lean mass on the diet, but that's my goal, i'd rather be slender than having a 45 inch chest. It's down to what the OP wants from his diet that he will get.
