I know a handful of people IRL who can throw a football much better than Tim Tebow. And when talking NFL QBs, that's a pretty important job requirement. Yet despite the fact that he is a significantly BELOW average passer, he's succeeding right now. So yes, Tim Tebow became an NFL QB because he put his mind to it and wanted to be one. I don't think it'll last beyond this season, and that saddens me, but the fact of the matter is that he achieved something he really shouldn't have been able to do based on his measurable output.
I also disagree that Tim Tebow has "elite" genetics. He's 6'3, taller than average, but his size, strength, and speed are directly correlated to the work he put in in the weight room at Florida. Read any story about the kid and they'll tell you that he's the hardest working guy in the gym. Look at Tebow's father or brother. They're not freak strong-men with legendary genetics. They are normal people.
Right now, in my opinion, Tim Tebow is the hardest working man in sports. In a culture where these guys are vying for $40m+ contracts and then not even showing up for team meetings, it's great to see a guy like Tim Tebow who seems to genuinely appreciate the chances he's gotten/made for himself and continue to work hard to improve himself. I wish more athletes were like him. He's truly a role-model for younger athletes to look up to.
It's seriously to the point where if my Falcons were in the superbowl against Tim Tebow, I wouldn't know who to root for. THAT'S how much I like the guy. I would love to see this guy win the big prize and be the biggest success story in sports history.
