So, Today was beer mania. I went to Holdridge and rode some muddy as fuk trails with friends. We went to Blackthorn Pub and had dinner after the ride and I had: A lot of Shorts: Rye Not Rye IPA, Goodnight Bodacious Black DIPA, Prolonged Enjoyment Session IPA; plus Anderson Valley Summer Solstice Cream ale, and Dark Horse Citra Crooked tree IPA all on tap. Drove home just fine >_>

Then I had Southern Tier Eurotrash Pilz, and this motherfuker:
The true B-day beer of the night right now. INSANE complexity and balance of deep fruity notes with dark malts and moderate barrel presence. AMAZINGGGGG. 14.5% and your palate wont know until you're drunk. Super smooth sipping.
Drinking 1 or 2 more then were good. Probably IPAs because they rule for drinking all day(Lagunitas IPA and something else lol)[IIFYM]

Happy B-Day Spak!
Waffle, i always get in a bind at the flying saucer. End up getting blitzed and underestimate my billl by usually 25 or 30 dollars.
Every year though, there is a big oil and gas expo in Houston, and one of the big Geophysic companies hosts a party at the Flying Saucer.
Free of charge, whatever the hell you want. Open bar everything available.
Hngggg i cant wait until next Feb when it happens again. I bet my ticket alone was over 100 dollars. Couldnt imagine what the final bill for that parrty was.
several hundred people coming in and out. wow.Cutting now ....

Ya, sounds a little like me.
Sounds like my favorite bar around here, but they don't sell crap beer on draft or on bottles. Not even guinness. A lot of Unibroue, Mikkeller, and other shyt on tap and bottles. They had Cantillon Gueze in bottles there, so you know it's a cool bar even though I don't drink that shyt.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Pssh, that shyt ain't worth it. Bfast stout, maybe if you're desperate. Shyt's like $10-12 here.
Meanwhile, I'm pretty confident I also got scammed by Craftshack (as well as brewforia). Placed order on 6/22. Emailed twice. No response. Second email was threats of filing false CC charges and violating the Fair Credit Billing Act.
Doubly, still no response from Alpine about that Nelson being bad. I guess they don't care.Official Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Last sixer I bought recently tasted like old stock, but the store manager assured me it was a fresh shipment. It lacked the bright and fruity hop profile and tasted like an old, muted IPA. Their brewmaster left the company at the end of April I believe.
The next round of Austin Beerworks Heavy Machinery is right around the corner. It's a 5.5% American Pale Ale with lots of citra and amarillo. They've been on a roll lately with the DIPA and Einhorn, so I'm curious to see if ABW releases another quality beer.
It's refreshing to see a bar or shop free up precious real estate for good beer. More bars and stores in Austin are refusing to sell Bud/Miller/Coors, etc because of the high demand for quality craft brews. I was at Whole Foods getting a growler fill the other day, and a customer was mad the store didn't stock Budlite. The beer manager told the customer to try HEB because his store only stocks craft beer.

Fuuukkk Freddie (owner). I realize you guys will do what you have to do to get the beer you want but this guy is a major Dbag.
San Diego people have lots of great stories about him. My experience was good when I first moved close to his shop, had an insane selection. Always a little over priced but was worth it to me since all the other good shops were 20 minutes away. Then when I got married I wasn't buying as much for awhile and just drinking what I had. Show up after a couple months to pick up Abyss and he went on about "why should I sell you this beer, this guy over here spends 300 a month here" bullchit like that.

and never went back.
He is pretty hated locally for just being an all around POS.

Oddly enough, maybe craftshack and Alpine are in here monitoring what we say. Craftshack said it was sent long ago but they don't have any tracking for it nor does UPS have anything on it, so he's gonna "resend the box" once they get in more Pure Hoppiness plus some 'bonus goodies', that is, if it was ever sent in the first place
Doubly, email from Alpine
Thank you for contacting us about your off bottles of Nelson. After some internal investigating I have determined what is wrong. The bottles you were unlucky enough to purchase had a bunch of hop particles in them. A result of transferring beer and missing when it changed from clear beer to hop sludge. Don't worry, it is not harmful, just doesn't taste good.
However, we owe you beer. It would be our pleasure to send you the three bottles, if that’s the correct number, in a good faith effort to do the right thing. Another option is to give you bottles on a return visit. Or, we can reimburse your cost in cash. Whichever you prefer is fine, just let me know what is your preference.
So sorry for your experience. I hate to see our beer go out like that so I'm embarrassed beyond words.
Sorry againOfficial Supp. Misc Beer Policeman

Tonight's fare:
Great Hefeweizen! One of the better American brewed ones Ive had. Big citrus, banana, bubblegum, wheat, clove, pepper; and super drinkable.
Damn good Belgian Blond! All around nice balance and complexity of bright fruit, citrus, banana, clove, honey, and bread with no cloying. super carbed and smooth sipping.
FUKKKK. Its been like a year since I had this. One of the best IPAs ive ever had, hands down. World class. Orgasm. Huge tropical and bright tangerine, lemon zest, orange rind, pine. etc. Just fricking amazing. Will be buying more than a 6 pack next time im at my parents house that's for damn sure.
Awesomeness. This is still quite fresh I can tell. Huge citrus and tropical pineapple hop flavors with a moderate caramel malt balance that doesnt overwhelm. Delicious as fuk. I might have to lower my BA 5 rating on this though for my second bottle.

yes please!! u got my shipping info yes? coincidentally, your box is on the way already...containing nelson
Also, Alpine HATES craftshack.
Due to increased demand, currently maxed out supply, (and stressed out brewers), and rather than raise our prices, we have had to implement new limits on bottle and growler sales. As of today, July 5th, there will be a limit of three 22 bottles, per beer, per customer, per day. There will be a limit of four growler fills, per beer, per customer, and a limit of two NEW growlers, per customer, per day.
We may not sell to groups.
We WILL NOT sell beer to people we think may re-sell it, because to do so is against the law, and could jeopardize both of our licenses. It's because of liquor stores sending people in to buy our beer, and illegally re-sell it, that we had to put limits on our bottle sales in the first place.
You can directly blame Windy City/Craftshack in El Cajon. We would have more beer for you, if it wasn't for them! Please contact them and let them know how you feel about that.
Thank you, and have a Hoppy Weekend!Last edited by TopsecretWaffle; 07-10-2013 at 09:07 PM.
