Same could be said of the other owner. If you're worried about other dogs, don't go into the SEPARATE FENCED IN NO-LEASH area of the park.
Oh, and also, DoD Police are not permitted to carry off-duty. H.R. 675 is looking to change that, but until then it's a no-go. So really, the fact that he is a cop should not even matter. If he has a valid MD state concealed carry, then he is good to go, otherwise he should also be facing gun charges as well.

Feel sad for the poor Husky. He was just trying to have some fun, and ends up getting shot for it.

Fck the federal officer. I have a big GSD and he's rough. I don't care how vicious he is, I don't need a gun to separate him from another dog. Even if I did...at a dog park? Are you kidding?
This ahole probably has never been to a dog park. Dogs play rough. Even if the dog did attack, you don't shoot it. You have a trained K9 DOG with tons of owners around. You could've easily pulled the dogs away.
My father in law is a k9 cop. Those dogs are tough, trained, but still crazy. You usually don't bring those dogs around other dogs. They are instructed not too. Same reason that k9 cops have to get rid of any pets before they become a k9 cop.
I was also a meter reader, in the ****tiest ghettos and attacked by pitbulls. I didn't need a gun. People let their dogs out at me because they thought I was turning off their electric power. FU DOD WHOMEVER. Don't bring a gun to a dog park.u mad

This is the smartest post in the thread so far. It's a husky & a shepherd, two big dogs that love to play. Playing for big dogs like that is roughing each other up to show dominance. Dogs like that will nip, and growl at each other and 5 minutes later be sniffing each other's asses again. All that alpha sht you idiots talk about, this is where it actually happens in nature.
The officer probably got panicked, he didn't want to bring a hurt dog into work. Tht's the only thing I can really think of.
Dude that's awful, you should never wish death on a dog. From what I gather (with my indepth analysis of 5 minutes) the two dogs were probably just playing. In a group of dogs in a dog park they were probably trying to show who was boss.B.S. in Health & Exercise Science / M.S. in Exercise Physiology / (Former) Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist

Who says the other dog was aggressive? You don't even need an aggressive dog for fights to start. When dogs first meet the first thing they do is establish who is the dominant one.. normally it happens by one of the dogs lowering himself or licking the other dog's nose to show submission. If there's 2 big dogs that both want the dominant position they'll have a short fight for it, and that's that. They don't kill or wound eachother.. they have 'rules' too and they stop when the other dogs on his back and whimpering (unless your dog is just nuts.. but then it will attack submissive dogs etc as well and it would never be in a dog park).
We've had a Belgian shepherd, a 140+ pound great Dane and now a 4 months old German Shepherd.. They all went through extensive training courses with my dad and were very calm, balanced dogs, yet both the belgian and the dane have gotten into fights simply because smaller dogs would come up and try to establish dominance. It's normal, predictable and easy to break up IF your dog wears a collar!
I weighed 140 lbs myself at 16 years old when we still had that great Dane and even I could pull him off other dogs... you just grab the collar and lift the front legs off the ground and there goes their strength. There's absolutely no need for a gun there. To me it sounds more like the guy panicked after hearing his dog whimper.Last edited by Brian_r_; 08-06-2010 at 05:22 AM.

would've assaulted officer, throw fists now, asks questions later.
guy would probably go down easy if he has to shoot someone's dog for rolling around with his ATTACK TRAINED german shepherd.

If the Husky had tendencies to be aggressive towards other dogs the cop should have shot the owner not the dog.
If the Husky was playing (yes, dogs play, sometimes aggressively) and the cop shot it because he has an ego he should get in trouble.
Either way, there was definitely a better way to handle the situation.

Thank you! I was wondering why all these dipsh*t retards were acting like it was a K-9. It says that NOWHERE in the article. People just assumed that because it said Federal Agent's German Shepherd. If it said the dog was a labradoodle would you assume it was a K-9, too?
If a retarded child went nuts at a park and attacked this guy's child, could the officer get away with shooting it? I know this is an exagerrated example, but it's wrong in both cases - the only difference would be the severity of the crime - but a crime nonetheless.
Change the thread title back BOZZ. You're wrong.
Please bump when anyone finds out if anything comes of this.

Are you stupid? Every cop I know carries their sidearm when off duty. There's no way you work 8-12 hours a day in a ****ty job and then just not carry your weapon when you're out of uniform.
What's upsetting here is not that he had his weapon on him and used it, its the escalation of force that was not followed. This is one source, you need multiple sources to corroborate the event as well.US ARMY Noncommissioned Officer

If you're responsible for a $20,000 investment, then why would you bring that investment to a location where it will most likely get into a fight? You wouldn't take your stock portfolio with you to a strip club.
This is a bad judgement call. Cop shouldn't be in charge of an animal if he cannot make good decisions regarding its health and welfare.US ARMY Noncommissioned Officer
