I was a dork, too, fwiw. I bought a set back in the day from a guy who made them out of scrap steel and sold them on the starting strength forums. For years I packed my 1.25's back and forth to the gym for overhead presses. I think they're actually really useful for women and weaker men. Can't imagine they make much difference for you. I still use them in my home gym.

Yeah, I think so. Most of the really strong guys I know have a certain level of OCD with regard to lifting. My best progress has always been when others thought I was wound a little tight.

I used to use chain loops that were about a pound and half each. Then I realized how much of a dork it made me look so now I only use machines to keep it toned up.
