I don't think anyone would "intentionally" violate the law if they parked in a VERY ambiguous sign. if he was such a good guy, he wouldn't have given it in the first place knowing that the sign was very ambiguous.So what is he supposed to do, write a note saying 'Don't park here, signed officer Farva"?
He took it back because it was pretty clear the guy didn't intentionally violate the law. After talking to the guy and they exchanged point of views the officer was a good guy and voided the ticket.
the paint faded IS a good grounds for a defense in court. It's ambiguous and any person who's driving would've missed that. It's the city's JOB to get it repainted.He didn't have to do this, you seem to think he did. The paint being faded isn't an excuse, you can clearly see it in the video despite it being faded. If the guy had noticed the paint when he initially parked, he could have gotten out of his vehicle checked and saw it was a handicap space. This was a case of the driver being careless.

Out of town or not shouldn't matter if the officer was acting on the law not on "what most people do". It was not clearly marked and there was no signage on the curb... not sure how it is in the south but on the west coast if there's no sign with the ordinance number on it you can't be ticketed on towed.

He is suppose to understand the law. The spot was not clearly marked. What is even worse he said nobody ever parks there so he's seen this worn hard to see painted for probably a year or two and hasn't notified anyone to repaint it for the safety of handicapped citizens.
