Ooo do that neck stretch - tilt head as far over as touching your shoulder as possible, helps the traps a lot. Did Animal Pak a long time ago, was a major pain in the ass with all the pills. You have to be one of those people who can pop 6 in your mouth at a time and not have a problem with it.

Sooooo...Remember when I said I was feeling run down? Well, Stephen ended up with a sore throat and sniffles, and then he gave me a sore throat and sniffles So I took yesterday off and I'm taking today off to rest. It's supposed to be raining all weekend so I'll do legs tomorrow.
Planning something evil for next week. I am enjoying the recomping but am thinking of making it more efficient and doing it strategically. I'm making plans and thinking things through. I don't think my maintenance these days is over 2000, I'm thinking closer to 1850-1900. I'll base it on those numbers. I'm thinking of ways to make it more sustainable so I don't crash and burn after a few weeks. Maybe do it in 8 week cycles with 2 weeks off or something. Anyway, It's Friday! Happy Friday!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Do you eat any fermented foods Lori? I know you eat yogurt right? I am just wondering if adding more good bugs to your tummy would help your immune system. Take it easy, rest yup and feel better soon!!

I do!! I live off yogurt, and I always make sure to buy the ones with probiotics in them I think it's half caused by the acidity in my body + sleep issues. Both have gotten better but still not great. Plus, you know, overactive sinuses, lol!!! It's just me, I think a lot of it is just genetic as my dad has digestive issues/ulcers/acid reflux/sinus issues as well :/ We take the same medication for sinuses and stomach. That scares me, lol!!!

Well that sucked! lol! Boring weekend of no energy and sore throat/chest congestion. Feeling amazing today though after all that rest and watermelon. I think I ate about 6 pounds of watermelon this weekend, hahaha! It's just so good Oozing with energy here this morning, I'm actually jittery from my coffee which never happens! I'll take it!
I'm probably going to rest today again, then crush legs tomorrow. I'll slowly ease myself back into it as my body heals up and then start my new recomping plan next Monday We're both going to register for some more courses towards our third year of Business admin and specialize in accounting. It will be difficult while working full time so I'll probably keep everything training/diet-wise pretty simple these next few months once that starts up. We're noticing more and more that the more education you have; the more money you make. And we need more money so here we go! My goodness this world certainly requires you to be ambitious these days. But that won't be until September-ish so about a month or so away.
Anyway, I am SO HAPPY that I'm getting better. I always think I'm going to be sick forever when it hits me...I get so depressed! Hate being idle but I'm sure the extra long break and foods will help with it all in the long run. It'll just make my recomping plan work better....Yes....Happy Monday!?Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

I'm on the mend, but not 100%! Much better, almost completely better. I think the tiredness and stuffiness will drag on since Stephen's still feeling it after almost 2 weeks. I may lift light weights later. Last night I was feeling restless so I did: Glute ham raises with my feet wedged in under the bed, pistol squats, 1-legged elevated glute bridges, push-ups, diamond push-ups, 1-arm upright rows with a 25.5lb water jug, and 1-arm rows with the same jug, and then did sets of 20 curls with a 2kg jar of peanut butter. The jug was too awkward for curls, hahah! Stephen was intrigued and joined in, lol!!!
Today I have an appointment at the orthodontist. I was only waiting for MONTHS So a half day of work for me...woot! I may celebrate by doing a real workout....! Happy Tuesday!
I'm still wondering what to do! Wondering if eating straight maintenance cals + lifting will be overly effective at my weight/bf. Wondering if it'd be more worth while to calorie/carb cycle if I'm planning on recomping and actually following a plan vs. just living and lifting. Or doing a very, very modest bulk.
I'm bored in life and need the gym/diet planning to entertain me, lol! I like having an objective outside of normal life stuff to look forward to. A goal to reach that I can think about to take my mind away from the monotony of work/life. I'd be lost without lifting I think! Weather is getting cold and summer/beach days are pretty much over. Really looking forward to starting up a new plan and eating right for new goals and focusing on changing/challenging my body/getting stronger/fitter. It's fun and entertaining. Hmmm!Last edited by gobbles23; 08-12-2014 at 06:53 AM.

Hey Turkey,
Glad your feeling better. Hope your energy returns quickly.
TBH on your schooling question if you are going to focus on accounting you may want to look at doing the CPA courses that qualify directly to the CPA designation, you can do it through them without going to a school. There are some plus and minuses to it but may fast track you to where you want to be."That's not sweat that's your fat cells crying" anonymous

Thanks DM
I've been looking at that god forsaken web site for two days now trying to make sense of it, lol! I can't find info on the pre-requisites, the length of the program, the cost of the program, course equivalencies (I have done a bunch of accounting courses) and I'm finding it very frustrating! :/ But I'll try to figure it out as I think you're right. It's what I'm looking for- online accounting courses that lead to a designation. I just wish they laid things out simplerTeam Cookies Give You Superpowers

Phone them, much easier. They have different directions as some people come out of university with the 4 year degree and just do the 2 year professional course but if you don't have the 4 yr degree then you need to discuss with them which classes are transferable from your university time and what you need to take to further your education to get the CPA. It is a fast track program that doesn't have all the extras that university does so no "arts, English, etc" just focusses on accounting and getting the designation.

Sweet Was just reading more about it and apparently you have to get your transcript reviewed for $115 before registering for the courses to ensure you're doing the right ones. It looks costly but I already have a bunch of economics and financial/managerial accounting and statistics and all that stuff so hopefully I won't have to do all those in order to get it! lol! Thanks for all your help! Going to look over this with Stephen later tonight

How is the orthodontist thing going? Teeth getting straighter? How much longer on braces?

Hoy! Went out yesterday and bought some resistance bands and 35lb db's for the bedroom! Bands have 30lbs of resistance in total and I can do all kinds of things with them because they jam into the door. I can do glute kickbacks and rope crunches and upright rows and one-arm rows and lateral raises and chest flies, so much stuff! And last night I was doing oh presses with the 35's and bicep curls I can curl and press the 35's now apparently Never had access to 35's before, only 30's and 40's. 30's being too light and the 40's being too heavy, so yay!
Good for those evenings when you don't feel like sitting around as you watch tv Anyway, today will be leg day for sure! I have a bunch of drainage and still feel meh, but my temperature is normal now so lifting shall commence for sure! Going to Stephen's parent's house after work today because he's having supper there so I'll lunge with the 70's and stuff.
Finally decided what we're going to do in September! Was looking at accounting but 2 years and thousands of cash to make a bit extra a year sounded... :/ So I found a cool program we can do online at the college that is one year long and will yeild jobs with oil and gas companies. It's called Information Management...Kind of like business fused with IT. It's a post-diploma program. Only one year long, and like, 12 courses. Done and done! I will be poor with my braces payment and car payment and insurance payment and school, lol, but hopefully it'll lead to more money.
Mm hmm! Anyway, I'll be back with my leg workout! Happy Wednesday!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Guys! Something F*cked up happened to me. Like...F*cked up. In my mind, a few nights ago I took a sleeping pill and I was setting the alarm on my phone for the morning and I texted Stephen a silly little text at the same time. He was cursing thinking it was one of our friends who always texts at night and he gets up to check it and it was me and I was giggling, you know, just an innocent little scenario. End of story, went to sleep.
So I'm here at work this morning and I go to text Stephen and I see the text that I sent him way back then on my phone like I sent it last night. I'm like, that's weird, kind of a delayed reaction there. SO I make a little comment about it to him and make fun of my phone and he tells me that happened last night I was like no.... repeated the conversation with him that night, and he was like "yeah, that was last night. You took a sleeping pill and sounded kind of out of it." I'm like....you're wrong, that was NOT last night, that was like, 4 nights ago. I go back through my phone and can't find the message anywhere other than from last night. He keeps telling me he's not lying, but I am so dead against believing it because it's impossible! I feel like I'm losing my mind! It's just not true. I am never taking those again! I'm so confused. That is so scary!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Sleeping pills are NO joke! If it didn't happen last night do you remember what you did last night instead? Lol. I can't take actual sleeping pills or I'll legit sleep for 12+ hours hahah. I accidentally took tylenol PM once instead of normal tylenol and I slept from 5:30 at night until 9:30 the next morning! hahaha. So glad to hear that you're going to school again and that you have a plan. I LOVE PLANS hahaha.

I thought it was the same as every other night I remember lying down and then cuddling Stephen and then .... nothing. I don't really remember turning over to sleep...But I do remember setting my alarm before lying down and I remember the incident when I texted him happened right after I set it, while I was in bed. It's just a blur, I'm so freaked out, lol!!! Feels like one of those movies where the main character is losing their mind and remember things differently from what actually happened. Can't wait for lunch time to talk to Stephen about it in more detail!
Yay! More plans to come! Or more like, decisions.Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Mkay so no point in starting a recomping plan if I'm going to be working full time and in school part time. lol! That's stupid. Instead, I'll start up 5/3/1 so I can ensure some sort of progression is going on and with a spreadsheet laid out for me with numbers on it to follow; I'll have that much less to think about. Only thing with that is then I'll have to make sure I make it to the real gym every workout. Or something. I'm sure I'll be fine either way. If I have to substitute here and there I'll think of something. Nutrition will be; make sure I eat 2000 cals on workout days and more carbs around workout times and then I'm not caring what happens on my rest days. Will aim for not a lot of cals though on sedentary days, 1800 tops. Maybe some reading on the treadmill on rest days.
So today is leg day and for 5/3/1 main leg exercise will be lunges. Last time I did 140lbs x10 each leg. Put that in my spreadsheet and I start out with 140lbs x amrap. It tells me my 1rm is 185! Then 150 next week so I'll alternate between db's and bb. And eat 2000 cals. Mmmhmm. I have like, 2 weeks before the chaos.Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

Sleeping pills are no joke. i can tell you some pretty funny to me stories of stuff my dad has done on them. I am not sure he thinks the stories are funny though. I won't take them for sure!
Glad you found something for the continuing education. Always good to have a plan!
And yay you 5/3/1! I always liked that one!Spoon Barbell Club

Thanks! I'm excited to start it! I hope it's the right thing to do and will lead to more money
YAY! 5/3/1 is great for progression! The only time I ever benched 130lbs was while I was on 5/3/1! I want it back.Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

I still have the flu! But I guess it was only since Saturday that it really kicked in, so not even a week ago yet. Just so impatient, I get so bored and the weather has been crap. It's just work, go home, watch t.v shows, go to bed, repeat. Boring. Ugh. Trying to save money like crazy so we can afford school and we'll probably end up getting some help besides that because it's pretty tight. So spending money for entertainment is out of the question. lol! I miss being active. Nothing drives me crazier than not being able to be active!
Went to the gym last night but I was still no good. I'm just smothering and coughing/tired. But I did do this:
DB Static Lunges:
BWx10 each
50'sx7 each
70'sx11 (PR! )
Even though it almost killed me! lol! Such a struggle, I was aiming for 11 reps and after the 6th I was like "no way." Then 7 reps and "no way am I getting an 8th." It kept going like that, lol!! Then after the 10th rep I was like "how the hell am I supposed to do one more!?" And I grinded it out soooooo bad. I thought I was going to pop a vein or an eyeball or something, hahaha! And the worst thing about single leg stuff...I had to do the same thing for the other leg Then I did a few glute ham raises and more lunges with the 50's and called it a day
Anyway, it's actually supposed to clear up later today and be nice out all weekend! I will spend lots of time outdoors...I wanna go picking berries! The blueberries are ripe Happy Thursday!Team Cookies Give You Superpowers

I'm kind of idle here at work this week if you haven't noticed, lol!!!! It's a quiet week since someone I work for is on vacation, so I've been doing some reading! I've been reading about carb intake and immune function! I found this really cool write up about how if you're exercising intensely (hiking, hiking and lifting in the same day, lol!) that you should be consuming lots of carbs that day (if it's for ~2 hours or more you should be consuming 8-10g per kg/bw), and drinking a carb drink during the intense activity (even during long intense lifting sessions..long being more than 45+ minutes) Because moderately intense activity, the kind you can do for a prolonged period of time, is what causes the most cortisol to be released after training which lowers your immunity and carbs help reduce that stress. I am very guilty of not eating enough carbs before and after exercise. I've been reading up on the effects that can have on your immune system, especially in terms of URI. And how your body can mimic these symptoms without a virus actually being present. It was all very interesting!
So I'm going to make a point to eat lots of carbs on the days we hike for hours. Some days I hike for hours AND lift weights intensely and hit PR's. And undereat. lol! It's stupid. I don't care so much about not eating enough on rest days, but from now on I'm making a point of it to fuel my body for the activity beforehand and make sure I eat well afterwards as well. Going to make sure I optimize this whole pre-post activity thing.
And I'm actually going to change the way I train a bit. I'm going to focus a lot on volume for leg days and not going uber heavy (6-20 reps rather than 3-5) and not going to failure and eating more/higher carbs on legs days to see if I can get my leg muscles to grow. Maybe that way they'll recover faster and I'll be able to work them twice a week plus my hiking on the weekends.
Yep. Is the weekend here yet!?Team Cookies Give You Superpowers
