Yeah it's all over youtube brah, some of the older/seasoned natty/non-natty bb'ers talk about it all the time. How the testing can easily be passed. For example, someone can be on the jooce the entire prep then boom drop it before contest and pass it.

I guess if people are trying to make a living from it, they'll do whatever it takes. But I personally won't do it just to look shredded at the beach or whatever.

Call it blasphemy but I never tried Pho even when there were literally 2-3 Vietnamese places nearby when I lived in Dallas. I have never been a soup eater.

I've actually heard this from quite a few older Vietnamese who've been back. The meat and vegetables are generally fresher here and they give you a lot more.



If you weren't on the poverty cut, you'd eat 4 bowls of pho in Vietnam versus just a large bowl here (srs).

I heard this a lot too especially if you're eating it from the street vendor where the old lady serving pho in two baskets. Also many people told me pho in Northern Vietnam is so much better than Southern Vietname and here in the states. I guess it has to do with something with the water being used for broth.

Never been to N. Viet. I would like to take a month off or at least two weeks to tour Vietname from South to North until it reaches the boarder line of China.

Thinking of hitting New Mexico for the first 2-3 weeks of April. Any of you sandbaggers live there?

I think you misunderstood what he meant. In general, when you order Japanese food in Japan, it's better than Japanese food here. When you order Mexican food in Mexico, it's better than Mexican food here. When you order Chinese food in China, it's better than Chinese food here. But when you order pho in Vietnam, it's not as good as pho here. It bucks the trend.



Yeah I hear freshness, quality and portions are just so much better here. I usually hear it from more younger Viets that go back because they are more accustomed to or only know of pho here till they go back and try it. They are always surprised and dismayed. A lot of the older Viets will tolerate it because they've had it before. * Note the word "tolerate" rather than "enjoy" lol

My relatives are going back next week. Going to eat a lot of the dishes and delicacies we can't get here. I'm kinda jelly.

My in laws used to order pho in the morning, but at their age, the portions are just right. They only eat it for breakfast, just to have breakfast. And the price can't be beat. They said 2 bowls of pho or chao, 2 ca phe sua da, bahn mi and some fruit...about $1.50 usd. And that's delivered to their doorstep every morning.

LOL This. And here we eat it for lunch and dinner.

So what's your verdict on Pho?

I'm not a big noodles eater either so reason why I never went. If I do try it I would add fish sauce on the bowl.

Oh Xfitter rant last night...

My training partner was waiting on the squat rack to do SQUATS. So when the spring breaker was done doing his bb upright rows on the squat rack, the guy didn't even bother taking the 10 lb. plates off

Then this former bb'er turned into a Xfitter kept harassing my partner if he can use the squat rack between sets. To do what? To fukking do bb push press! And his form sucks too! We didn't mind people working in, but he had an attitude about it.

I wasn't training with my partner last night since it's my deload week but I was like this old fukker. We bertstared him.

Again, why do some Xfitters are such dbags with that "I'm elite" attitude.

I agree, authentic asian/mexican foods trumps American version always. I haven't been to Jollibee in awhile but I remember the damn burgers and fried chicken there growing up and they were tasty. Jollibee authentic not so much lol

But Evo said he likes the Pinoy/Asian version better than the ones in his area.

I think you would have liked pho more before than you would now if you're new to it, because I think you are watching your sodium right? Really high sodium content, so I try to not eat it so much. Plus some of the bad pho places lace it with an overabundance of msg.

Pho isn't my favorite noodle dish, it's like top 3 for me. However it is my top noodle soup dish. When you eat American chicken noodle soup, or Chinese wheat or egg noodle soup, the noodles are good, the broth is good and the side ingredients are good. But you can distinguish each of them. When you eat pho, it's just so good with every bite, because the noodles themselves absorb all the flavors from the broth. I think it's because it's a rice based noodle and it's just how plain white rice absorbs whatever flavors you mix it with so well. With that said that's what differentiates a good pho place from a bad one...the broth.

Also yea I know what your saying about places like Jollibee or Chow King. It's more the nostalgia than anything. I miss the days when I used to date this Pinay and we would get Goldilocks before heading to the theme parks in Cali.

I get your meaning, it is odd but yea I guess availability of ingredients etc. I guess pho is one of those exceptions and HK pho is the exception to that. I would think that I was getting ripped off for not being Viet
OH sorry didn't mean that Vancouver pho was bad, it's real popular here. If you google map vancouver, fraser and kingsway, there's at least one or two on each block.

I did like pho, but I prefer ramen. I think ramen and chow fun are the 2 noodles I really like. Everything else is just meh.

Beef chow fun is my favorite noodle dish of all. Dry style of course.

I think I gave my opinion on it. But the more grounded xfitter were usually ex athletes or active people in general. I find the douchey ones were never really into sports, competition or any type of physical activity before. And it's those people that tout it so highly because it's the only sort of competition they can base anything on.

Kinda like the Ford Mustang. It's actually a great car. I wouldn't buy one now, not because I hate Mustangs, but because I hate Mustang drivers and there mentality.

Yea, people forget that Southern Viets have an entirely different scope of dishes. Many people think pho is the only good food out of Vietnam.

Pho is good for that because the noodle sucks up the alochol. Pho is also good during any cold or rainy day too.
