The Craigslist ad says the brand is Competitor, not "Competition". Competitor is made by Impex Fitness (link below) and sold at Walmart. I don't have any experience with this rack. The seller doesn't recommend using over 300#.

It seems like there are several people in here who have a real knack for finding great deals on lifting equipment so I was hoping you all could help me out. I have been tirelessly searching for a really strong sturdy well built rack around Western Maryland and including all the surrounding areas as I am more than willing to travel in order to get what I'm looking for. Like most people I would love to have a dark horse rack or something comparable but its not in the budget so I was hoping that with some help from you all I may be able to score a great rack at an even better price. Thanks in advance for anyone who helps out, I appreciate it tremendously!

I go to the craigslist main page for my area and type in "weights". You never know where someone is going to list that stuff. You might have to sift through the results, but it works for me so far.

ya i went through the threads and read all about the smith machines and nope i will not get one of them after reading about how they cause joint pains, and arent safer than a power rack, and they wont last as long so its pointless to get one especially if it aint a commercial one. Im trying to find a good deal on a power rack but there isnt anything in south tex looking to spend at max $700-800

It's possible that you might not find anything on craigslist, but if that's your price range, you should still be able to find a decent bench and weight set locally, then possibly opt to order a power rack and have it delivered. I've seen some on amazon that come in at about the 300-400 dollar range. You might also be able to finance, sometimes with zero interest over a short period.
The other option is to open your search area somewhat, and consider renting a u-haul for the day. If something comes up in your price range, you can use a rental truck, or a trailer to get the stuff back to your location. If you have a vehicle that can tow, it really doesn't cost all that much to just rent a trailer.*Security Officer Crew*

A reseller in my town in East Tennessee has a Legend 3133 full rack and several Dynabody full racks for $600 each. They do show some wear but are $1000+ racks new. I do not know how negotiable he is on price.
The guy also has a Legend seated calf $200. A Bodymasters seated calf excellent condition $250. Those are the things that I remember that would interest the forum members most.Last edited by deadwoodgregg; 07-12-2013 at 12:51 PM.

thats what i was thinking of doing because i found a powertec reack 4 hours away but he wants $800 for the rack, lat attachment, and bench http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/spo/3898462552.html he lowered it to 800 but i really wanted it lower
i talked to http://www.fitnessfactory.com/home/I...id_Power_Rack/ and they can sell me the bodysolid gpr378 for 600 with lat attachment and free shipping but i really wanted to pay lower than that but they said thats the lowest price out there, does anyone know another site that the gpr378 is lower on?Heavy bags DonT HIT back, it takes more than a gym membership to compete in the RING or Cage!

600 shipped with lat? go for it! there is something to be said for not having to drive to get something. think about those costs too for renting a truck/trailer and gas, and hours spent driving.
you won't find a better price new on the body solid rack. fitnessfactory is body solid after all. I believe there is an option for the lat to add Olympic plates to the weight stack, that's a pretty good deal.▪█───────█▪ Equipment Crew #46 ▪█───────█▪

Leaning out to do my first Physique Show. I've done cardio 3 times this week - I think that is the most cardio I've ever done in a week. In about a month I'll get to start putting the weight back on (I'm starting with a Cracker Barrel Breakfast on August 11th and I'll probably eat a box of Krispy Kremes that day too).

ya thats what i thought cuz its about the same price as a used powertec (and i dont like paying more than what others have payed on used equipment lol) its either i get the $600 shipped body solid gpr378 with lat attachment NEW http://www.fitnessfactory.com/home/I...id_Power_Rack/
or talk down this guy for a used powertec with lat attacthment and bench for $800 but i dont like the front top pull bar section on powertec compared to bodysolid (i like the plain round bar vs the handle bars)
or i just found this one you guys know anything about this one i mean a full power rack with lat atthmt and plate holders for that cheap?
http://www.amazon.com/Valor-Athletic...rds=power+rack
any recommendations? Ya for me to drive to pick up the powertec in my truck cost a additional $150 bucks of gas but i can make a fun family trip out of it too ...IM also needing one that will not be getting bolted to the floorHeavy bags DonT HIT back, it takes more than a gym membership to compete in the RING or Cage!

been scouring kijiji (canadian craiglist) and its pretty dead in my area for deals. this is the best ive come across so far
asking 500 for
275lbs of steel olympic weights
7ft olympic bar
incline/flat bench
power rack, looks like an entry level model
thoughts? the next cheapest option for me is to just buy all the items separately brand new and it would cost me about 700 which isnt too bad of a differential╔═════════════════ ೋღ☃ღೋ ════════════════╗

What do you guys think of this deal?
I'm planning to use our garage so I can have more room, the rack is 7 feet high by 5 feet wide, Olympic bar with 150 lbs of weight and everything else you see in the pictures. I'm just wondering could you us the rack for squatting and doing pull ups, and is it worth $300?
Thanks in advance

Not nearly enough detail. You need to post photos. What brand? Are they actually steel or cast iron? Are they hex, pro style, solid steel? Condition?
75 cents a pound could be a steal or a rip off depending on the answers. All weight is not the same. More often then not, people talk about generic hex dumbbells as if they are the only kind. Those are the lowest of the low... well besides cement dumbbells. If it's generic hex dumbbells, then 75 cents per pound is too expensive for used... even if they are rubber encased. Hex dumbbells have cast iron heads, not steel... even if the handles are steel. There are other types of dumbbells that have steel heads. They're relatively expensive.
My personal preference is to avoid rubber encased weights and dumbbells since they often smell poorly and old, damaged rubber can't be fixed. Iron or steel can be repainted if necessary. Also, rubber hex dumbbells often have contoured chromed handles and I prefer the normal handles.
There's an older white Powerblock sport bench for $100 in your area. You might try to get it for $75 or less. I had one and sold it for $80 but I sort of wish that I had kept it. It was rock solid in the incline position -absolutely no wobble. It was also quick to adjust and had a nice low flat height. It's not a commercial quality bench but it is quite good for consumer level.
http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/spo/3922493039.html
These two commercial benches are overpriced but you could try negotiating.... I would shoot for around $250 for the first one and under $100 for the second one since it has rips... might need to be reupholstered.

http://mcallen.en.craigslist.org/spo/3887750489.html
There's also some Ivanko Revolvers near you:
http://corpuschristi.craigslist.org/spo/3919864223.html
Also the high end stuff that I mentioned a couple days ago would be worth looking into.
There's around 30x as much stuff in your region compared to mine!! You just need to put in the time reading and searching and be patient for deals to pop up.Last edited by morebarbell; 07-13-2013 at 11:29 PM.

i like the 1st one the power block for 75 would be nice but it doesnt have the attachments for leg extension and ham curl but im starting to wonder if i even need them cuz im 6'2" and 200lbs and my wife is 5'11" so i would rather have a solid bench for me...im waiting on fitness factory to get back at me and see how low they can go on flat/incline/decline bench with attachments...that or even looking at this one just to get the bar also
http://austin.craigslist.org/spo/3935181116.html
or is this bench the same as the power block you mentioned?

Leg attachments are only on consumer level benches, not high end commercial benches. There's a reason. They aren't very good. If you have room and money, you might be able to pick up some dedicated commercial machines for under $300. I would focus on barbell training until then.
The bench in your first link is garbage. You might look for a Body Solid or Hoist bench with a leg extension. They're not going to take the place of a commercial machine but making one's wife happy is priceless... even if it means you buy a piece of garbage with a leg extension. Do not get a bench press. Do not get a bench press. Do not get a bench press.
The Powerblock travel bench in your second link is different than the sport bench that I linked. The travel bench is not real FID bench. It's rather limited in features and size and it's going to be very awkward for an average size male to use on a regular basis. It might work as a flat bench for your wife but I doubt you'll be comfortable on it.[]---[] Ivanko Barbell Crew #32 []---[] ()---() York Barbell Club #43 ()---() ▉---▉ Equipment Crew #50 ▉---▉

Is this worth $300? I need to make a decision, within a day or 2, since I can't post images or links, I attached some pictures from the ad, and the link is below, thank you.
