I'm talking about his yards per carry, not his yardage total. They've been workign in some of the faster scat backs hte last few years. But yeah, this season they definitely went to the air more. So I wasn't worried about his decline in yardage total. But he was a 4.5ypc career rusher. 4.5 last season, 4.1 the season before (which was his average before). Then he slumped horribly this season. It does correlate with his decline at the end of last season.


He can still be a power short yardage back, but if the last 20 games or so are any indication, he doesn't have what ti takes to be the lead back anymore.

The yards per carry was also what I was looking at. Not only that but 50 yards per game which puts him under RG3 lol.

This was the first full season Turner has played in which he was the number 1 back and didn't reach 300 carries. He's never been a home run big play guy and he's never averaged over 5 a carry with any amount of real carries in a season (100+). He should be well rested for the playoffs and it wouldn't surprised me to see him have 30 carries if they get up on Seattle. He's only gone over 1k 3 times in his career. But he's damn good at what he does, which is flatten people out and get the tough yards and the goal line scores.

It's not a farfetched assumption to make that with 80 or so more carries he could have brought up his 3.6 ypc to 4.0 or better.

CJ had a fairly solid season though considering how bad the team was. He's got to stop having a horrible first quarter/half of the season though...it puts us in such **** holes.

Even I under estimated how much of a badass he is. I didn't draft him in any leagues. Somebody else was always there to take him earlier than I was comfortable taking that much "risk".

Never again will I question him. He told us New Orleans was intentionally trying to injure him...we know how that turned out. He told us all off season and pre season that he would be in there as the starter from week 1 doing his thing...should have listened to him.
