im not sure why a utility token that is used to represent DIDs would pump a ton, if it gets too expensive it seems like it would be useless for that function.

Remember: KILT is not something you can put $50 in and get a 200x and buy a home gym next week. The beauty of a play like KILT is that it's very safe "but" it's not going to explode like a chitcoin that launched 15 minutes ago, that's now how these big enterprise plays work. It will have it's time, but if it pulls a few solid x this year I'll be pretty happy, and then who knows next year.

The point of these plays is that you can safely put in LARGE amounts of money and sleep at night. If you just put in small amounts and then lose patience after a week then don't bother, this is the wrong sort of coin and there are plenty out there which will moon/live/die on much shorter timescales if that's preferred. I'm not saying which is better, just that to get the most out of safe plays you need to go in big.

If you have 50k and try to 20x it with a thousand different poocoins you'll probably just lose it all and in any case be stressed out of your mind. But if you put 50k all into one safe play and it "only" pulls a 20x (meaning top 100 in KILT's case) then you've just made it to a mil, despite everyone dunking on you for a boring poor-performing coin vs. their 1000x'ers which they lost money on.

A good question - currently 2 KILT are required per DID, meaning about $1 total. Pic below shows one value anchor based on Deloitte's 50 CHF product.

But, in any case, if KILT gets too expensive there can be a governance vote to reduce the KILT-per-DID requirement (e.g. only 1 KILT per DID), so that they party can continue. You're right that without that option, at some point it would stall and be unable to move higher in price.
