Tried out the new Proraso sandalwood... great shave. Same quality as the old green Proraso without the menthol tingle feeling.

from the quick search i did, it seems Dorco blades aren't the greatest? picked up a 10 pack of SS blades for a dollar as a backup to my feathers, a giant box of the boxes (10x10 i assume), was $9

sup brahs. interesting thread, never ventured into the wetshaving crew thread before. interesting in trying it though after many years of mach 3 usage. thing is, i shave around my jawline, and keep some stubble - i dont clean shave my whole face. would this pose a problem? or would i just be able to be more accurate/precise in my jawline shaving? because its hard as fuk sometimes to accurately nail the jawline when you have like 5 freakin razors on your blade lmao. anyway, looking for some advise. will rep you hard as fuk with my 8k of course

I would also consider using a Gillette Tech (check link). This is a smaller razor than most and not quite as bulky, so I think it may help give you a better feel for whats going on.

Alex, have you tried this particular style tech? If so, how do the Tech and the EJ compare?

thanks man, might just get that because it comes with everything + a sick stand lol.
how often do you need to change the blades on these types of razors?
edit: just read the thread in it's entirety, and phuck man, a lot more goes into this than i thought haha. it looks really interesting though, so i think i'm going to order that set, seems to be a good place to startLast edited by pyzjn; 07-21-2012 at 03:51 PM.

Yep. I used to stretch my blades to 5-7, then I started changing them more frequently. I noticed the shaves were smoother and faster. You'll really notice yourself going over the same area more frequently if you try to use the same blade for too long.
Observation: For some reason I find the way Gillette markets the Fusion here in the States to be pretty amusing. For months they're pushing it as the best shave ever and it must been a tough sell because after a few months they were giving them away with all sorts of promotions and gift sets and stuff. For a while they were running print ads urging you to change your blades more frequently (probably because no one was willing to pay $20 for a 4-pack) and then suddenly started advertising that the blades can last up to 15 shaves without dulling and irritation.
I wonder how well this thing is selling? It seems Gillette has pumped millions of dollars into it as it is the recommended razor in every single men's magazine grooming section/awards and it appears they purchased Art of Shaving solely to push the Fusion."Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have."--Ronald Reagan

I have tried and bought almost every single Gillette razor made from 1890's to today, and others too such as Darwins, Eclipse Red Rings, British Streamlines just to name a few. The Gillette ball End Tech is a very mild razor. The shave is good but not as affective as other more aggressive razor. As a newbie shaver it can serve well, but after experience is gained you may want to try e Edwin Jagger which is a bit more aggressive than the Tech Ball end Razor.
This is a Gillette Ball End Tech Razor
