There, there..
Great! She will feel like a new woman, after she's fully recovered of courseWasn't sure if I could squeeze this in between
hospital visits. My wife's hip replacement surgery went well yesterday
and she is recovering. She is to be released Saturday.
Have a great weekend!

Apologies to my journal friends. I've been wrapped up in my my wife's
rehab from hip surgery this past week and have had little time for the
forums. She's doing well and I hope to get back to regular following the
journals of those who have been kind enough to pop in here.

Weights, reps and volume on your OHPs and skulls look super strong, Larry. Both those exercises represent hurdles that I can't seem to get over. Glad that your wife is doing well. Apologies aren't necessary with a valid excuse such as yours.

Thanks Andrew. She's getting stronger and more mobile daily.
Been trying to work on my strength lately. On my 3rd 531 cycle and have been
moving right along. No great shakes, just steady. I'm constantly trying to add calories
with my strength training, but the hunger just isn't there. I need to stoke the fire
with some carbs.

You're doing great on the 5/3/1 so far and no sign of any failing on the reps. I suspect you feel that you're 'dragging ass' because 5/3/1 is tough and you probably do need to up your cals. And don't forget that you've had other stresses lately so cortisol depression of your metabolism may leaving you feeling sapped
Now that things are settling at home, bump the cals and see how you feel with next week's sessions"Better to wear out than rust out!"

same. Am hoping some extra bwt will enhance this program.
Will report.

Thanx Steve, can't wait till you fire up your journal again.
Thanx A. In my younger heavier days I was a pretty fair bench presser. Nowadays I'll take what I get. Took me several years to deconstruct my style and rebuild after years of shoulder pain and sloppy form. I'm happy with it now. Never was fond of rowing, but am working on it.

Deads day looked good 3 extra on your +3 is perfect! Doesn't look like you are slowing down yet! I'm always jealous of you guys who can do lots of pull ups ecspecially with added weight. It's a glaring weakness of mine.

Thanx Jt, wish my squats were as good.
Monday Bwt 162.6
Modified training today. Somehow I aggravated an inguinal hernia
I've had for a few years. Will talk to the doc next Monday about it.
So I temporarily scaled back my leg training for now.
I was at the end of my 3rd 531 cycle and decided to end it for a while
and go back to push/pull with the emphasis on hypertrophy until I get
this other situation sorted out.

I used to bench double what I can now but I had had no education about proper form and I suffered all those shoulder injuries as a result. You've still got a strong bench and you've done a great job of keeping your upper body mass
Deads looked really good as well. Bad luck about the hernia ... hopefully that's just a minor strain that will settle with the change to a hypertrophy type workout"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Falling way short on my cals. Just over 1900 last 2 days.
Goal is min 2250.

Feel your pain with regard to the hernia, having been there, Larry. Hoping everything gets worked out on Monday when you meet with your doc. Found it a bit surprising that you continued with the deads, squats and leg extensions as those were the 3 that aggravated mine worse than anything else.

Pain eased quite a bit, now I'm not sure if the problem was something other than the hernia (which I've had for a while without pain) and more with the hip joint. IDK, will talk it over with the doc. It's always something - ache here ache there. This buttercup needs to suck it up.
Wife took a pic of me lollygaggin on the computer this afternoon.
