I just bought one of these.

I haven't bought a new PC since 2010 and have recently gotten back into WoW and some other steam games. Was this a solid choice for a mobile gaming laptop?

Cross posting it here from another thread just in case someone wants a super cheap large pad
My second one, great if you want an oversized pad. Cleans easy which I was going to do but for $8.51 I decided why not. (With code FJ26JS93 )

For the case the Fractal R6 has one drive bay and enough space.
As for NVME, it's not too expensive to have a 250gb or 500gb OS drive. I remember a few years ago when I used a 60gb OCZ Agility 3 just to have ssd speeds (and it cost more than a 250gb NVME drive does these days) . You could say the speeds are negligible, but the numbers doesn't lie.

building a new rig on black friday. my computer keeps like crashing when it starts up, i have to like power it up like 10-20 times for it to not crash. no one has been able to help me with it, so i think its better to just build a new pc. anyone know any recent decent budget builds? thinking about going budget with the mobo and cpu

I highly doubt it's a hard drive issue, although I have had 1 drive that prevented the system from being able to POST, so it's not totally impossible. How many drives do you have? You might want to go down to just your OS drive and again, ensure everything is well seated/connected to power and data cables.

i just have 1 hdd and 1 ssd. maybe it's a power supply issue? i noticed that when it's colder it takes me more times to get my computer going, like a ****ing car lol. it once took me an hour to get it to boot properly. i turned it on and off like 50 times. warmer days it only takes like 1-10 tries. but it may just be luck

Could be PSU, could be Motherboard. You could probably get a spare PSU for like $45.. might be a good idea to test something like that. Depends on how nice of a supply you want to go with of course, but you can get a decent Bronze 80+ Corsair/EVGA ~600w supply for fairly cheap.

seems like it is my psu then. there's no other problems besides the computer not starting up properly. i mean it gets to the screen where it says the mobo or cpu, i don't remember, and then it just doesn't go any further. hmmm... thinking about just getting a new case, my psu and case are like 10 years old now. i think the same with my mobo, and i'm still on an i5-2500k. i don't think there's any problems with the i5-2500k though

Well, it's easy. I like technology, I read and watch reviews.
The last 3 generations, maybe 4 if we want to talk about the 6000-series, of intel i_x cpus have been having terrible thermals.
That's why there has been a huge increase in delidding (no **** if you want it cool).
The latest generation wasn't any better EVEN tho they soldered it.
You can watch one of the best overclockers in the world check why the 9900K runs so hot: https://youtu.be/r5Doo-zgyQs.
So, sure I have been positive to AMD since they came out with Ryzen.
Ryzen has been extremely power efficient and very good thermals.
If I want to criticize AMD it would be for the "low" single-threaded performance, but they are limited by their clockspeed.
And now I was only talking about the Intel thermals, man, there are so much more to criticize about Intel and their cpus.

RX 590 being released soon, price will probably dip a bit more.
The 580 (and GTX 1060 for comparison) can practically run anything 1080p on max settings at a decent framerate. I have an 1060 6gb and I ran everything on max, including witcher 3 maxed out with hairworks etc, without stuttering.
590 is going to be between the Vega 56 and 580, starting at $270 USD but comes with $180 worth of new games (3 new unreleased titles) which will prob be near $400 CAD for you i guess. But the Vega 56 is probably more worth getting if your PSU can handle it given how powerful it is, and the prices are getting darn low recently.Arsenal F.C / San Antonio Spurs

hmm $400 is a little too high I think. 1070 is like $500.
i want something that would be able to handle cyberpunk 2077 at max settings with 60fps on 1080p. i know it's hard to say though cause it's going to be a long time before it's released, but i'm thinking the 1070 ti would be the most reliable. prices for gpu's after that one is too high for me anyways lol. absolute max i'll pay for a gpu is $500.
think i'm going to end up spending $1000 for this new rig though. unless any of you know how to create a really good budget gaming rig. i already have my ssd and hdd, so the costs for those are already done. but case + mobo +psu + cpu + gpu. i don't think i need to upgrade my ram. and the case i settled for is already like $120. also need a new monitor. still on a 20" tn panel. but i can wait for a while i guess, all the 24" inch monitors should go gown in price i assume.Last edited by 2RDEYE; 11-15-2018 at 09:25 AM.

MSI 24" optix g24c sells for $150 here (black friday sale, and occasionally on Ebay on that price - New)- one of the best bangs for the buck. also a 1060/580 will very likely run Max/High at 1080p 60 fps. a 1070 TI is pretty overkill for what you're trying to get. Even then, a Vega 56 is much better once you flash it essentially into a Vega 64. Will pull more power than a 1070 TI but it's better and with a freesync (instead of Gsync) monitor, you're saving hundreds of dollars.
Agree unless you want to get the games with it too.
The 580 is on sale now for $160. Vega 56 is hovering around ~300 now as well and it's most likely the best bang for the buck, much better than a 590.Arsenal F.C / San Antonio Spurs
