that sucks stan, you just have to block what everyone else is saying out. a lot of it comes from jealousy. just as long as you are losing 2 pounds a week then you are doing it safely and tell eveyone to pound dirt that is giving you crap about losing weight. its your body not theirs and keep going and dont give up. good luck

Girls actually talk to me now, haha.
Most of the reactions I have gotten have been positive no negative ones.
I just find it funny that if I go back 2 years from now everything would be different.

It's really odd. I just hit the 10% mark this week (lost 38 lbs.) and I've been getting a lot of complements at the gym about how hard I'm working and how much better I look. And while I appreciate the comments and the encouragement, it gets me thinking: "I still weigh 342 lbs. Did I really look THAT much fatter at 380?" It just seems like 38 lbs. shouldn't be that noticeable on someone my size.

Entering my freshman year of college I was 6"4 317 (~30% body fat).
I woke up in May and realized that I had dropped around 41 pounds over the course of my freshman year and weighed in at 276 ( from a combination of not playing football/eating slightly healthier). At this point, I decided it was really time to grab my weight by the horns and start to cut.
After a month of hard work and watching what I eat, I have already dropped 18 pounds to 258. I have a very large frame so I can imagine that my body fat percentage is in the mid to low 20s- having a "normal" body fat percentage is very much in sight. My ultimate goal would be to get to a healthy weight so that I can serve my country as an officer in the military.
I still have a lot of hard work to put in but there are already obvious differences in my life. I receive far more compliments from both sexes- not just on my looks, but my style, personality, etc. I guess just having more respect for your body commands more respect from other people. Girls also pay much more attention to me- no longer am I the fat wing man whose only job is to provide comic relief and get stuck in the friend zone. They are much flirtier and overall more comfortable around me than before.
All in all, reading these stories in this thread has been a fantastic source of inspiration. I am hoping that before the next school year I can provide another update! Good luck to all, and keep up all the hard work and dedication!

I was never really fat, but on the latter end of the "Healthy" range of things. Last December I decided to start running 5 days a week and dropped 20 pounds in about 4 months. My parents got me a pt session for my birthday and although the program I got was terribad, it got me back into weightlifting, and I cut about 5 more pounds since I started lifting. Come the end of May for our senior picnic at the local beach, I take my shirt off for the first time in public in about a year, and suddenly I am hot? Females were trying to figure out who I was, until they realized it was me. Talk about an ego boost!

Is it BUMP?
Have you ever had this happen when you lose weight ( like 20 pounds) people in your family tells you "you're ok you don't need to lose any more weight"?. Which I disagree with because i'm still very overweight, are they saying that out of jealousy? if it's true then why would they want me to stop when I worked hard to lose 20 pounds?
I'm still cutting anywaysLast edited by Testament125; 06-07-2009 at 03:33 PM.

Yeah something similar happened to me, I've lost a lot of weight (well not a lot) and I look MUCH better now. I have a bunch of people telling me I don't need to go to the gym as much, but in my eyes, I still have a long ways to go until I get to where I want to be. In my case, its not jealousy (i dont think so) but it is possible for others.
Either way, keep up the good workROUND 2
1/1/2009 ~180 lbs Began cut

Ive lost 60ishLBS so far...
I noticed ive gotten a lot more attention from females... But it can also be contributed to the increase in confidence...
I also think going out and buying nice, stylish, new cloths also is more attractive, as i used to only wear shorts and black t shirts with sneakers...
opposed to nice shoes, collar shirts, slim fit shirts, jeans, khakis, ectMisc'in since '07

So far I have lost 42 lbs and the main difference is in how I carry myself. I don't feel like the fat kid in the gym anymore. =D
Started out at 267 lbs, had a progress pic at 255 lbs but I lost that due to my hard drive dying. =(
But anyways, this is me now at 225 lbs...Im just pissed because I lost my staring progress pic so I have nothing to compare it to...

I know man, I know.
Loose skin here, a little too much fat there, stretch marks to the left, a vein that could be a bit more visible to the right.
Being a fatty for the majority of my life thus far, I'll always be obsessed with getting to the next level, and the next, and the next...
Every mirror or window or car that I walk or run by, I HAVE to look at my reflection and judge myself. It really is my obsession.
And it really sucks.

it's because you see it every day I guess. It's like watching the first and last episode of biggest loser.
Anyways, we had our 10 year highschool reunion about 3 weeks ago and most of them, the last time I saw them was when I was 50 lbs skinnier and it was fun seeing everyone's reactions... not just from the females but from the "meat heads" that used to be the football player tough guys that had obviously forgotten where the weight room was. :|

Don't worry, I'm not offended or anything.
I used to be almost 300 pounds. I started working out two years ago today, to be exact! Wow.
After being so fat, you have tons and tons of loose skin that won't go away unless you get very, very lean, which is what I'm working on.
But don't worry, I eat! I get at least 180 grams of protein everyday. I lift heavy, too.
It's these damn tits, man. When it's cold, they stick out like crazy, and when it's warm, they're flat and hang down low. It just looks really bad no matter what. But I notice week after week that they're getting smaller, so it's all good.
I'm not even cutting, I eat about 2100 calories a day! I think it's being vegan and the long distance running. But I am putting on muscle after I started lifting heavy recently, and going from just 70 grams of protein a day to 180+. My lifts have gone up, and I think I went up a pound too.
Loose tit sacks suck, especially if you're a guy!

After losing about 75-80 pounds over the last 10 or so months, I've definitely gotten my fair share of compliments of how much better I look--I definitely feel as if I'm treated differently but I'm sure a lot of it is just the improved self-confidence that I have obtained now that I've lost the weight.
As a side note--does anybody that has lost a significant amount of weight still see themselves as being overweight at times? It's only been 10 months or so, but I occasionally catch myself thinking about myself or behaving as if I still weigh 250 pounds or so when I started. It's strange to weigh so much less (I like to think of it as 16 5lb bags of sugar)!"Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice."
