It has a bit of DHT blocking effect, but nothing compared to that of propecia. If you were to get shot by somebody, DHT is like using a brick wall. Has a good amount of stopping power, but can still get through, depending on the bullet. nizoral by itself is like using a pillow to protect yourself, it'll slow the bullet down, but won't make that big of an impact, because it'll still penetrate.
I'd recommend coupling Nizoral with rogaine.

anyone want to shoot me a PM where you guys get the 2% nizoral or the other 2% keto shampoo from? My local drug stores stopped carrying nizoral. Have to buy it online now regardless, might as well get the 2% if its not much more expensive.

lold at the analogy thanks breh
I'm probably gonna schedule an appointment with the derm over winter break. Scalp itchy as fuark (always had this problem) and I have bad dandruff+ hair started balding during my freshman year of college (Feels bad man).
Do you know of any thing I can do besides Nizoral 2% (Been changing diet as well= more greens, fish, nuts, etc)? I'm afraid of mindoxil and some of the other stuff cause it gives you that there erectile disfunction srs
thanks brah preciate it. I think I'm just gonna stick with NIzoral 2% for now. If you dont mind me asking, when you use your nizoral do you let it sit on your scalp for 5 mins? afraid of scalp burn, heard it's strong stuffLast edited by BeastMode101; 12-18-2012 at 10:51 PM.

a #1 would hide it very well. It might not even be noticeable.

My understanding is that it is among one, if not the strongest, topical DHT inhibitor avaliable to this day. A few guys on different hairloss forums have been using it with good results. It seems however that several suppliers seem to sell RU of inferior quality (scam).
Kinda weird that they scratched it in the middle of the clinical trials since it showed great promise. They probably did this for financial reasons and potential sides though.

Yeah, I've heard of it. There's a massive thread on baldtruthtalk.com about it. You can read all about it, if you'd like:

I'm baffled as to why this product never made it for approval by the FDA. This product on paper, has better drug mechanism of action compared to finasteride, where it theoretically should stop hair loss cold in it's tracks. It's a non-competitive inhibitor of DHT, whereas fin is a competitive inhibitor of DHT. However, the protocols to apply RU is pretty complicated and tedious. You have to mix the powder in a solution, which has to be pre-measured with appropriate proportions of alcohol and some other substance. You can't let the mixture be exposed to any type of light, as it'll lose it's efficacy. Most were storing it in their bathroom cabinets. Think about having to make your own minoxidil at home - that would be a pain in the ass. That's what a lot of the members on other hair loss forums are doing at the moment. Everybody knows what "ingredients" are needed to make the product.
The problem with RU is that there are no long term studies or side effects known for the product. As in, nobody knows what side effects could potentially occur. Really, this should be the "holy grail" product to stop hair loss, but not sure why it never made in the market. Hope that answers your question. Good luck!
Here's a link to a thread that will be interest to you.

Where did you read this? I'm quite certain, minoxidil doesn't cause ED.
As for your 2nd question. Yup, I apply it, let it sit in my hair for 5 minutes or so. Then rinse off. Lol no, no such thing as scalp burn or anything of that sort. However, before applying Niz, use Neutrogena's T-Sal Shampoo to remove the excess keratin layer (layer of dead cells). The dead cells is a barrier, and will diminish the amount of nizoral that gets absorbed. However, when you apply the T-Sal shampoo, it removes this layer, minimizing blockage.GA

BeastMode, if you're going to see a dermatologist, try to choose a physician who also has expertise about hair transplants. I was lucky enough to score a physician who is both. Atleast that way, he can look at your scalp, skin, and give you better guidance on how to proceed with things.

I think you should see a hair specialist in all seriousness. You hairline is still intact, however you have thinning at the crown and a bit at the scalp. How is your diet? Are you getting enough protein? srs question.
Not sure if it's diffuse thinning or what. I think that a physician will give you much better advice. If not, check out www.baldtruthtalk.com. Physicians from the states and Europe constantly post there. Make a thread with your pictures, and see what people say. Most of my knowledge about products has come from that site.GA

Douglas, I used to shave #2 on top, #1.5 on the sides.. Shorter hair actually exposes it more imo unless you shave it down to a #1 or bic it, or it did that in my case.. I have thin blonde hair. But when you shave it more people will realize you don't give a f*ck, even though you probably do. Growing it out will probably conceal it more.. That and a little toppik.
