Is there a difference between the standing and sitting military press? Is it just that sitting allows you to be more strict and not cheat?

Pop up an old thread...
The difference is the bench. In a seated one, the bench, especially if it has a back on it for you to lean on, becomes your base. When you press standing your legs, abs, core, and back have to be your base and support the load. If you're seated, those muscles dont' have to work near as hard because your bench is holding you up.

Its impossible to perform a seated military press, that's just a shoulder press. Military means standing at Military attention position.

Starting weight/height = 119lbs / 5'8"
Current weight/height - 185lbs / 5'8"
Bulking 'til 230lbs or when the Buffalo Bills have a winning season. Whichever comes first.
Step 1) Pick up a weight and a small farm animal.
Step 2) Lift one and eat the other.
