why should insurance companies cover for operations that are needed because you caused it on yourself, but then decline surgery for a new born baby born with a cleft pallet because its "cosmetic"

yea I feel bad for and it's good that you had your surgery... but you caused your problem.... you weren't hit by a drunk driver, you weren't born paralyzed, you didn't get hurt playing in a sport or by a accident... you chose to drink and drive... you are lucky you didn't hurt anybody besides yourself you'd be in jail rather then on misc right now.

You could have killed an entire family the last time you drove a car, but you didn't.
