2003 hands down. We will never see another human being have that size and condition at the same time ever again. Ronnie walked on stage and people started LAUGHING he was so big and ripped. True story, Dexter Jackson saw Jay backstage at the '03 Olympia with his face burried in his hands and asked what was wrong. Jay said "Ronnie's huge".
This sport is called bodybuilding and if we're not building our bodies, what is there to see? Shucks, you want to see some small symmetrical guys, then turn on the TV and watch Survivor or Fear Factor. -Ronnie Coleman

YEAH BUDDY. Any excuse to post this!
Though Ronnie in 98 was one of the great versions of the GOAT.
''There’s this battle over waterboarding at places like Guantanamo Bay. I think that they should just say, “Hey, if you guys don’t talk, you have to see Hercules In New York.” I guarantee those guys would talk much faster. You don’t need to do waterboarding or anything else. That’s the ultimate threat.''

03 was the biggest and baddest Ronnie ever. Guys backstage after the Show of Strength (that he lost 2nd place) thought he could be beat...when he came out at what was it 300ish of shredded mass, guys where competing for 2nd and all of them knew it.
But a case can be made for, 1997, 1998...and so on as Ronnie just kept getting bigger and better. He had a semi-off year here and there but if you like the smaller Ronnie, look to around 1997 (where I think he could of won that O)-1999. After that he starts getting much bigger. So if you want mass, look after 1999.

I know you want to think this, but I seriously doubt it. Ronnie has a very unique freak factor and yes people always say "here's the next Ronnie Coleman" about certain guys and it never pans out. It's really doesn't have any thing to do with the upcoming guys' work ethic or commitment to the sport, most humans don't have, or have the potential for, the muscle size/fullness, vascualrity, separation, thickness, conditioning, proportion etc like Ronnie all at once. Guys may have 1 or 2 of these qualities but we'll never see anyone close to Ronnie in our lifetime. Some people criticize Ronnie's calves, and of course his gut in his later years (he's almost 300 lbs of stage mind you) but other than that, how often does anyone, even the biggest hater out there, crtiticize Ronnie's physique at his best? From one body part flows right into the next, each just as freaky it's insane.
We won't be around for the "next Ronnie Coleman" trust meThis sport is called bodybuilding and if we're not building our bodies, what is there to see? Shucks, you want to see some small symmetrical guys, then turn on the TV and watch Survivor or Fear Factor. -Ronnie Coleman

February 2010 post? I have heard myself Jay say in 2004 or 2005 "nobody can beat Ronnie when he's this big you can only hope he comes in a little off" or something to that effect so he basically admited he's fighting for second at one of those shows so it's possible he said "Ronnie's huge". Jay and Ronnie both weighed in at 265 lbs at the 2001 Olympia, then Jay took a year off in 2002 to improve while Ronnie came in at a measely 245 lbs that year at the Olympia and getting BEAT shortly after at the GNC. So it isnt that hard to believe Jay would say something like this after Ronnie SHOCKINGLY gained 42 pounds of lean stage-ready bodyweight. Think about it, Jay almost beats Ronnie in '01, takes a year off, Ronnie got smaller and actually got beat in 2002 (right after Olympia) so Jay was probably licking his chops for a big win in 2003, just to be crushed by the most impressive physique in human history. I'd facepalm too
