I feel like people don't understand the concept of over training..
Yes my strength went up. But due to over training which was discovered through hind sight. My strength would constantly stall and when it did, like all rookies do when dedicated to something. I would increase the volume/intensity in hopes to break through the plateau.

Overtraining didn't make you fat, the excess calories did. I bulked from 130 to 172 in 9 months and still wear a size 32 in jeans. I eat 3000 calories a day and workout 6 days a week for an hour and a half.
When I was eating 3500 calories, I noticed immediate fat gains so I cut to 3000.
Can't even imagine what a 5500 calorie diet would have done to me.

lol i never said over training made me fat. I'm saying that over training is the primary reason why my strength and lean muscle gains were poor. As it seems to be popular belief that I was either not training or not training hard enough. While anyone can understand how this assumption can be made. It's couldn't be further from the truth.
How do I know what the truth is?
Well I lived the experience of a failed bulk and am now living the experience of a successful bulk. Therefore making it fairly easy to identify where and how i went wrong. I can't see how one could argue with that.

Yeah in between 300 - 500 is good for me. I don't like to go by the 500cal rule. It's about as useful as telling a person to go on a 40/40/20 split. It's not specific to the person. A better way is to go is by adding 10 - 20% to my total maintenance calories. For cutting I would subtract inbetween 10 - 20%. Atm, I feel like adding 20% is too much so i backed it down to 15%.
