I messed up my shoulder yesterday.

I was doing inverted shoulder press on a machine @ my gym. I got up to 270 and I'm not sure what happened but I think I felt a click or something. It just felt a little strange @ first but later on in the night it got worse and today it's even more so. I spoke to a personal trainer friend of mine who had me do a few movements. It hurts when i extend my arm outwards to the side and inwards towards the other side. He told me it could be an internal external rotary cuff issue and I should see a doctor. I currently do not have insurance and cannot afford to go. Umm...ok so anyways he told me to ice it 3 times a day/sleep in a sling.

I guess what I'm most upset about is what kind of set back this is going to be for me but I know that taking care of myself is the most important thing right now.

I have a question. If this doesn't go away after resting it for a while obviously I will eventually have to see someone but what if it goes away in a couple of days? How long after that should I wait to start lifting and/or working out the rotator cuff?

Thanks dude you are prob right. It still hurts a little but not as much. There is just a lot of clicking. Once it kind of cracks once I can move it around without it doing it again. Very strange...Anyways I did some stretching today and I don't know wtf I did and I have no idea if this is related to the shoulder but my freaking neck is killing me. If I tilt my head to the right it hurts so bad I could throw up. I never had a pinched nerve but I could assume that's what it is. I can't really turn my head right either. The pain is in the back right bottom of my neck and then kind of shoots upwards. I'm a fkin ambi-turner now!

I have, i think, the same problem too. My right shoulder was giving me problems one day, felt like it constantly needed to pop (like cracking ur knuckles) and i decided to go light on a shoulder day so i warmed up as usual. Once i was getting into my exercises though i felt a slight pop again and then no real pain...just an uncomfortable feeling, but when i went to go pick up some DB's for presses just the weight and gravity made a shooting pain go through my shoulder and clavical around my neck and i knew i was f**ked. I took about 2-3 weeks off completely to let it heal but now its still giving me problems....no pain...just that constant feeling on needing to pop. It makes a cracking sound sometimes when i do a 'throwing a baseball' motion....and when i bring my arm from behind me and foward to the front of my chest i feel a grinding of something on my clavicle right below my neck where my upper-inner pec connects in. Could this be the same problem? I never used to take glucosomine or anything for my joints cause i never went stupid heavy and hurt myself...always been careful and not push myself TOO hard....but now im taking all kinds of joint supps to try and get rid of this annoyance.

oh it's def from soft tissue.

    livethefitlife.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/back-anatomy.jpg

semispinalis capitis is where i can feel the pain generating. It might be the splenius as well but I can't really tell. And I'm not talking about just an "annoying" pain I literally can't tilt my head past certain points without feeling nauseous. I'd even go as far as saying it's taking a lot out of my energy wise just having to deal with it. Making me cranky as hell! Lol
