I don't know how to do that, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Locally we have a store called "Play it Again Sports". People go there to sell their used sporting goods. A lot of it is brand new, or hardly used. I've seen some nice racks in there at a reasonable price and have gotten some brand new olympic weights. It's kind of hit and miss on what is there at the time. Not sure if they have one where you are at or not...just a thought.

Those mats look like the ones that are sold at placed like Dicks : http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/se...+exercise&sr=1
They are generally pretty crappy quality and don't hold up very well. Don't let the thickness fool you - they can be thick, but their density is lightweight. After a few months of use, they will have permanent indentations and be ruined.
If you get commercial quality gym flooring you won't be disappointed. Something like this: http://www.christiansfitnessfactory....w-all-productsIt's hard to win an argument with a smart person. It's damn near impossible to win an argument with a stupid person. - Bill Murray

Good to know. Looks like about $150 for what I'll need (and that's the minimum order) but I suppose it'll be worth it and that way I can get iron weights and not worry about it.
Thanks, I'll check it out.

Looks like some seriously high-grade stuff. Not sure I need anything that intense, but if I could afford it, I would.self-proclaimed huguenot

I'm ordering this one next week-
http://bestbuyfitness.com/product.asp?intProdID=3083
Awesome price.
We close on our house at the end of the month so I can really get going soon.
All the bars at stores around here suck and they have ones on Amazon that are clearly legit, but they are upwards of two bills and if I can get one cheaper, I'd like to.
Was hoping someone had gotten a less pricey one and liked it, but it's definitely not something to skimp on.

No, I still have to find a proper bench. That, the oly bar and the power rack are my main three concerns right now. Everything else can wait, but I need to be able to squat, bench and dead at least before I cancel my gym membership, etc.
Also, I suppose technically owning the house would be good too

Good man
That is a good price, I believe I paid the same.
You may wan't to have a helping hand in putting it together. I managed on my own, but it would be much quicker with a partner.
I would look into anchoring it down, while it's not necessary, it's a nice piece of mind. I found myself weighing down the rack with plates, which just cluttered my gym, and was not nearly as effective as anchoring the rack to the floor.

I am currently building a home gym for reasons very similiar to yours. I ordered that power tec rack last month but I also got the lat pull down that can be added to it... they had a great deal for the package that no else could touch... no sales tax or shipping.
http://dumbbellbuddy.com/powertec/po...ck_system.html
$839.00 for everything... the high and low pulleys add a wealth of exercise possibilities to your home gym and the machine can be loaded much heavier than any of the stacks at your gym. All of the gyms locally here max out at 250 lbs on pull downs while I can load this thing over 300.
As far as your bench, I researched the **** out of that as well and the most versatile and clear winner IMO is the power tec utility bench shown in that pic on the link and the link below...
http://dumbbellbuddy.com/powertec/po...ity_bench.html
It has a wide range of setting from 90 degrees to decline. Most benches won't give you that many different inclines plus a decline. It also has handles on the sides for gripping and wheels on the bottom to move it around easy when you don't want it in the rack... it will handle 600-650 lbs with good stability.... very hard to beat.
You are looking at well over $300.00 for anything comparable... $289.00... very hard to beat.
I assembled th power rack and lat station by myself 4 sundays ago, it took about 3 hours. The only hard part was anchoring the top pieces without an extra set of hands but it wasn't that intense, you shouldn't have any trouble.
Congrats on the baby and the new home.God bless our men and women serving overseas...

That Powertec equipment looks great, they have plate loaded all purpose home gym systems that look really nice too.
Ive picked up a few things a t Play it Again Sports and was always pleased with the prices and condition of the equipment that they sell, they can assist you in always making your home gym just a little better than it was the month before, haha, good store for impulse buys but these online stores are likely best for your primary set up with a cage and whatever else.
I have a multi purpose Hoist stack machine thats pretty nice, too expensive imo though for what it is. I also have a ****ty smith machine and a nice gun rack/half cage thing. Even with all of that I end up lifting at the gym 99% of the time.
