Smile Calorie dense foods on a cut DO NOT MIX !

I know alot of you guys on IF say you can eat anything you want ... but i dont think its very feasible while on a cut because eating out / eating tasty fatty foods does not fill you up. Every time i save my calories to go to a resteraunt or order a burger or have a pizza, i find myself still starving hungry after it! ****ty food just seems to digest so quickly, regardless of the high calories. I think you are better off having 2000 calories of chicken breast, broccoli, oats, apples, peanut butter etc. etc. rather than saving your whole day looking forward to a 2000 calories piece of lasagna and still being hungry after it ....
Anyone else agree with this or not ? Let me know what you think. Healthy whole foods may not taste as good as a pizza or a lasagna but at least they make cutting bare-able and you are as full as possible.
Ugh ... i mean for the sake of a good taste, is it worth obtaining 1000 calories from 4 measly slices of pizza ?? Im more comftorble sacrificing "junk" food for being full thank you. Todays Lasagna was a one-off and i was not satisfied. (Tasted amazing but im hungry before bedtime on IF for the first time in 4 weeks. what a waste of 1200 calories at 7.30 pm.)
Once dropped a whopping 6lbs after taking a dump ! Gimme the reps i deserve !!!

I agree. The best tasting foods are the least satisfying I find most of the time. I can eat a whole pizza or pasta and be hungry in an hour or so. Just the opposite with pork chops or chicken breast like you said. Pretty tough to overeat or lean meats and they fill you up. I guess that's why people who eat garbage are overweight. They eat and eat in an effort to get full and before they realize they have ate 3000 calories. there are some unhealthy foods that fill me though. I find a big mac or quarter pounder from Mcdonald's is pretty satisfying. I just hate to spend all those calories on one meal when I can spread them out.

I disagree. I ate 3 home made burgers for breakfast, with cheese and ketchup. 1400 calories, 92g protein, and left a brick in my stomach for most of the day. I finished off with a turkey sandwich and have felt pretty sated all throughout the day.

Then again, coffee with sweetener is a godsend. It blunts hunger instantly for me.

I've not seen my belly so flat in ages, and I've been eating pretty much the kind of food I want, but just counting it all.

I don't really agree. I used to bash IF because I didn't really know much about it......

But while I don't subscribe whole-hearted to it, I do eat/train IF style several days out of the week. The bottom line is it depends on the individual and their lifestyle. I go to work and get so busy and focused on other things during the day that I really am not always hungry.

Now when I get home I'm hungry as hell (no longer focused on work). And that equates to eating between 5:30-6pm and 12-1am basically. I'll eat healthy and sometimes not all that healthy but I only go somewhat "overboard" with it 1 day a week.
As far as the food itself....if I eat half a pizza it's about 1350 calories and maybe 20 wingstreet wings for another 800 cals I'm done for the day and I don't even want to see any food for a while. That's 2150 cals in and of itself. If I did cardio earlier and burned lets say 350 cals what's that.....? A net 1800 cals for the day. I'll down a protein shake before bed and call it a day. It's pretty easy.

And to be perfectly blunt, I usually have my best weight lifting training day of the week the day after "eating junk" that filled up the glycogen levels. I center my back and leg workouts around "cheat days". And the next day, the LAST thing I have a taste for is junk food.

On the healther side, I can polish off a 12oz steak with mushrooms, shrimp, spinach w/ bacon, and a little rice and be done for at least 4-5 hours without being hungry again.

It's not all about eating junk as (for me at least) day in and day out as I would assume most of us here have a pretty good grasp of how to eat (relatively healthy), but speaking for myself the IF style is pretty good. As many people, after consuming a large amount of cals aren't starving afterwards.......(unless you are eating high cals of all carb/sugar foods). I'm usually ready to turn on the TV and veg out.

I think IF style of things work better for people who are focused on other things than food for a large part of the day.

IF is not an excuse to go eat ****ty foods. Its a meal schedule for people who prefer large meals. I use IF almost exclusively and the vast majority of my foods are body builder staples. (Eggs, Meat, Veggies etc) 2000 calories of Twinkies simply isn't going to fill anyone up.

I'd rather eat vegetables, lean meats, tuna and drink shakes over several meals than 1 large meal

It all boils down to personal opinion.

Personally, I'd rather jump off a bridge if I can't eat every 3 hours.

I'm only hungry on one of three occasions:

If I have breakfast. I'm not even hungry at 8 AM, but some days I'll be in the mood for some early morning grub. That takes away from dinner, which is an issue.

    If I drink calories.

If I'm unactive all day. Getting to the gym, getting out and running/playing hoops, seems to keep appetitie down. I had 400 calories last night at like 10 p.m. that I almost didn't want to eat, but then I remembered I like food.

I think there's a mix and match component to it. If all I had was skinless chicken and broccoli, I'd quit. But, if all I had was peanut butter and ice cream, I wouldn't be full, you're probably right.

But, the mental component of it is such a key player. You can't ignore that. If you feel like you're depriving yourself of food 24/7, you'll hate the cut, and quit. If eating above maitnenance here and there keeps you ON the cut, then it's probably doing more good than bad.

Like it's a revelation that calorie dense food isn't ideal for cutting. Way to blow the case wide open.

IF is an eating schedule. It's not a guarantee that you can't screw it up by choosing the wrong foods.

to be honest... i dont really miss other foods... Thats what makes cutting so easy for me. I love eating alot of chicken , and veg and fruit ... i genuinely feel better eating that then pizza... and whenever i do say what the heck , and have some pizza, i end up being hungry even when ive hit the daily cal figure.

I'm sure you do feel hungry. But do you not LOVE the pizza? There's a mental release from just letting go here and there. If you LOVE chicken and veggies, you haven't eaten enough of it. I still eat chicken and turkey on a daily basis, but $hit gets old man.

I have pretty much dumped pastas all together for that reason. It's just nearly impossible to fit it into my macros and still be satisfied through the day. That said, most whole foods are fair game in portions till I'm about to pop.

Burgers are a nice meal sometimes, and one day at Texas roadhouse I had to get the chicken and rib combo with the salad and an extra order of veggies to go along with the one that came with the meal, and that heavenly roll with cinnamon butter, just to fill my macros that day...whoa is me.

Calorie dense meals, I feel ya. But IF, is tha ****.

I really think it's calorie dense fat/carb combos. Calorie dense fat/carb/protein combos are filling. I ate cheeseburgers everyday from "not fat anymore" to lean, and hunger wasn't really a problem. I couldn't have done it with pizza everyday. I'm finding the same thing to be true while bulking, actually.

I disagree. I love cooking and I couldn't live my life eating the same things day in and day out. (I almost cook something new every single day.) Whey tends to be my best friend because sometimes I don't make very protein-friendly foods, so I just fill it in with whey, but I've made everything from pizza to lasagna to fajitas to whatever. It just depends how you make it and what you use. I fit and eat everything that I enjoy but I always make it myself.
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”
