your deff right about that... always surround yourself with good competition, playing with people below your level will only increase your ego, not your skill set ! STAY HUMBLE

hell yeah man hook it up been trying to increase vertical leap for a while. Im bout 2 inchs away from rim. which is alright considering im little less than 210 at 6' even.

Also i second on playing with better, stronger, faster, and TALLER people than you. I have improved my game by just doing that. playing with worse people will make you a worse player.

I need a good jumping program too. I thought squats and deadlifts alone would work but my vertical leap growth has slowed down alot. I can grab the rim two hands but need that extra push to dunk. But I just finished cutting and my stamina is up like crazy so its not all bad.

The argument can be made that vertical leap is a natural gift. However i disagree with this completely. Freshman year in HS i was about 6' ... i went from grabbing the rim with one to throwing it down with 2 hands. Ill put up a more structured workout but here are the basics...

Its not all about calves like some vert programs suggest... your quads, hamstrings, and core have to be very strong as well.

People don't realize how important your core is, and i guarantee it will make a huge difference if you actually take the time to work this area.

Exercises like leg press, squats, dead lifts, leg curl, hamstring curl, lunges, and calve raises are all very good for making your legs stronger.

Strength must also go hand in hand with explosiveness and conditioning, this is also very important .... Jump rope worked best for me, so try to get about 15-20 min in everyday. Its great cardio and will help develop your calve muscles

ALSO IMPORTANT- STRETCH! STRETCH STRETCH !
it will increase flexibility and also help your vert

This is all I have for now, as I said a more thorough post will be coming soon... so stay tuned and keep BALLIN!!

Yeah i do squats and leg presses all the time, same with calves. Im going to start doing jump rope for sure though. Totally forgot bout how intense that works your legs out. mainly your calves and gets you cut too.

I've noticed that after squats or deadlifts I am able to jump my highest easily. I think I need some weighted calve exersises in my leg routine. Ive been trying to get a half raise machine for awhile on craigslist. I haven't jumped rope in forever eithier going to have to buy one enough for my height.

iight guys, I am a young basketball player and I need some help

I play guard / small forward but as I started lifting I am gaining some size, and I play a ton, about 8 - 10 hours a week in the summer, I am wondering how I can add some speed work into my routine without overtraining. I stretch a ton, and my vertical is around 24 inches, which isnt very good.

Any way to maximize and get my speed/ jump higher and faster?
