I just saw this last night for the first time. I thought it was a great movie, but was honestly expecting a lot more due to the music choices for the movie. every 2 minutes they built this HUGE crescendo with the music...and then nothing exciting happened.
wtf was up with that? anyone else notice this?

There Will be Blood
I got no strings to hold me down
To make me fret or make me frown
I had strings, but now I'm free
I got no strings on me

one of the best films i've ever seen. daniel day lewis was phenomenal; as was paul dano... and, of course, pt anderson may very well be the most gifted director since kubrick.
i didn't think there was this anti-climax used against the score, so much as it works in conjunction with the performances (let's be honest, the film is purely character-driven).
if you're familiar with pt anderson's past films like 'punch drunk love' and 'magnolia', he uses the score in the same way.
