Why women should not vote

I recently graduated (want to be a software engineer), but am now taking Artificial Intelligence classes to supplement my coding and design and all that.

Well, I had a class, and the Professor was talking about how AI is being used in China, for facial recognition of citizens and social credit scoring. Professor played a short video of a news clip about it.


In a class of about 25 students.... about 4 of the women in our class, immediately came out in support of it.


Every single man that spoke up, was against it.



The reasons why women were in support of it?

"The drivers would be nicer to each other. People here in America are rude"

"It forces people to be nicer people, because here in America, someone could kidnap and murder you... but in China, they are being watched"

Women should not vote. They are not wired, biologically, temperamentally, to run government.

In practice there is little difference between our "FICO score" and whatever a social credit score is, we're just not as blatant about how it is used.

Xu was recently ordered by a Chinese court to pay 400,000 yuan (nearly $58,000) in fines and publicly apologize on social media for seven consecutive days for insulting Chen.

According to Apple Daily, Xu Xiaodong has already paid the fine, but he has refused to apologize. Because of his failure to comply with the sentence, last week a Chinese court lowered Xu’s credit score to “D”.

A credit score “D” means that Xu will no longer be allowed to buy plane tickets or train tickets, purchase real estate. He also will be banned from star-rated hotels, restaurants and nightclubs, and his children will not be able to study in private schools.

In 2014 China announced the launch of a pilot scheme to create a nationwide social credit score system, which will be fully implemented by 2020. The system aims to evaluate the behaviour of citizens and punish those who have a low score.

Credit scores aren't just used to set interest rates on loans. They are also used as a statistical indication of your overall "risk" of how likely you are to commit fraud or cause injury (to yourself or others) or cause property damage. And you don't have control over what the score is based on or how it can be combined with other data and used to evaluate you.

Usually a low FICO score is self inflicted and well deserved (I'm sure the Chinese would argue the same for their system) but at the end of the day, unless someone is willing to not ask questions about your big pile of cash, a low score will leave you struggling to buy plane tickets, purchase real estate, stay at four star hotels, or get your kid into a swanky private school.

Who says the Chinese system is wrong? you may not like it but how do you truly judge it?

In essence we have something simialar which is the credit score system.

However if it was extended perhaps we would have safer and nicer societies.

Most airlines do not accept cash. The workarounds usually involve some sort of credit, which we all know is based on your credit score. A low credit score can result in zero or low credit availability, meaning you might have to convert your drug money into a gift card or some other form of digital currency. Not impossible, but not as simple as you or I typing in a few numbers and having a ticket in 5 minutes.

I'm not saying a credit score directly parallels a social credit score, but in practice there are definitely some parallels.

And none of this has much to do with the original point of using AI as a a surveillance tool. The US and China are both heavy users of the technology. We just like to pretend we're the good guys.

interesting, because i paid $700 cash at the airport, the last time i bought plane tickets from ... American Airlines.

and if they had said no, just deposit it into a basic checking debit account and use the debit card. It acts as a credit card too. Don't need a good FICO to have a basic checking.
