tbh for DB lat raises i do a main set of 8-12 heavy. ive managed to work up to 8-9 clean reps with 40s. then i do a back off set aiming for 12-15 reps which I do with 25s.


cable lat raises i cannot get 2x8-12 with 40+ lbs no matter what lol. hard ass movement srs

I work my way up to 40s and hit 4 sets. The 4th set I run the rack non stop. 40,30,20,10. that burns them out.

My physio has banned me from doing lateral raises, they're really bad at aggravating my previous shoulder injury. I still do them but very carefully.

If you can't pause at the top you're using too much weight.

I do them with bish weight for a few sets rest-pause style at the end of my push workouts. The black pill is that side delts are a very small muscle. The 'width' mostly comes from how long your clavicles are which is genetic. I'm not saying skip lateral raises but I wouldn't waste energy focusing on them.

Press with progressive overload. This is where the heavy work happens.

Then get a pump in the side delts with side raises and upright rows.

Finish off with rear delts.

Incline lat raises were always more effective for me.

Yeah I definitely get more out of heavier weight on side lat raises. See tons of guys using like 10-25 pound dumbbells for like 30 reps and they never have good shoulder development.

It is curious. I’m not sure how effective this exercise has been for me either. And I’ve never been able to do over 30lbs for reps. OHP seems to give me a lot better stimulus
