Have you ever met an intelligent person with tattoos?

I'm talking about somebody who is a professor at a university teaching STEM.

My theory is that some people have enough intelligence to figure out that getting permanent ink on one's skin is never a very smart idea.

The SEALs is a good counter. Lots of intelligent operators out there with tattoos. They are like what, .25% of the tattoo community? It's largely filth that scribbles on their body. Being a doctor doesn't make you smart. Covid proved this.

Overall I think tattoos are kind of a dumb idea and can look trashy. Like what’s the point of putting permanent ink on your body? If you like art, get a painting and hang it on your wall lol. If you like horror movies get the print on a t-shirt and wear it lol.

That being said I do think a full sleeve done by a very professional/experienced artist can look cool. Pretty sure some of the musicians I’ve seen live in concert are genius level intellect and they have some interesting tattoos/sleeves.

as for OP's question: My old boss had a tattoo, was an Ivy league MBA. I feel like the smart people who get tattoos usually had some sort of trauma in their life, such is the case for her.

There's a guy at my gym who has his whole body tattooed and i actually admire his look. You can tell he puts a lot of effort into his overall appearance. The thing is i highly doubt that he's IQ is 135+.

Yeah I knew a guy who was quite clever that got a tattoo on his back and knowing him well enough he only done it to look like a bad boy and have sex with more girls or whatever, which again, like you said, is a sign of emotional trauma.

One of my best friends is a radiologist and owns his own practice and his back is covered in japanese style tattoos. SMartest person I have ever met. He solved my P-Chem problems for me in college then taught me how to solve them and he didnt even take the class.

I can see how an intelligent man could get tattoos, especially to give of a 'tough guy' or 'not to be messed with' appearance - like to subconsciously induce a "damn, he permanently inked tattoos on his skin, he must be a crazy yakuza guy, I better not hit on his wife" or "damn he's got tattoos, which makes him a bad boy, and that makes him HOT, I better sleep with him" type thought process into men and women.
