I know it's just a prison on an island, being an eyewtitness of that place back in the day (in use) would have been pretty cool
isn't it set in shark infested water so people don't escape or is that bollocks?

Yeah im from the bay and been there before. It’s not that impressive in person so it lost some charm for me. And no, not many sharks at all in the sf bay.

Went last summer. Pretty cool but a few hours was enough.
The currents are stronger and the water colder than surrounding areas and that's why most of the swim attempts failed (not sharks).
