Fact of the matter is:

-The Irish were wholly "enslaved" under indentured servitude which was simply the fare to travel from Europe to the Americas, and it only lasted for 7 years once they reached American soil.

-Once they fulfilled their indentured servitude they were free to move about the country as they pleased. Own land, get a job, vote, etc.

-A black person was synonymous with being a slave for LIFE with the rare exception of the slave owner granting freedom to a slave (like Kamalas ancestors) and even then, they had to carry "papers" around with them at all times so if they were stopped they had to prove they were free. They couldn't just blend in the crowd like the Irish could. They weren't allowed to vote (so their voices/grievances were never heard or addressed) and noone was hiring black people for factory/blacksmithing work, which is why some freed slaves did the only thing they knew, and that was to own their own slaves.

-More to the point, the 100 years after slavery ended up to the civil rights movement, the Irish were an accepted group and were afforded the ability to build wealth, but blacks were still second class citizens well into the first half of the 20th century. and before you say "iT wAs a lOnG tImE aGo," my grandmother was born in 1937 Arkansas and both of my parents were born in 1955. My grandmother had to give birth to my mom in a damned barn because the only hospital near her did not serve "colored people." After being mistreated in Little Rock, my grandmother took my mom and moved to California. Meanwhile almost at the same time, my dad was also born and they were fleeing Louisiana because the kkk burnt down the family corner market. Grandparents on my dads side didn't want my dad to live around those types of people, and so, they also moved to California. Stories like that hit a bit different when they directly affected your family and not just some 2nd or 3rd hand account from a history book or biopic reenacted in a movie. I don't expect you to care nearly as much as I do, but I hope you can at least understand why some black people feel the way they do towards some issues...and even if your ancestors were poor and struggled, at least they only had to worry about being poor, unlike my family that was not only poor but also a marginalized and second-class citizen.
