I have a old Seiko diver and G-Shock DW-6600. I was given both back in the 90s to wear while doing stuff. Still wear both when I need a watch.
I interact with a bunch of very wealthy people (incomes over $10M per year). Both of those watches have received cool watch remarks from these guys. One guy wearing a Rolex Explorer called my G-Shock "god tier". I later found out he follows Nico Leonard.
If I was buying a new mechanical watch it probably would be a Sinn 556.
FYI, a lot of very wealthy people wear Apple watches as daily go to.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

They're functional and affordable but they really don't fit into a category that isn't dominated by something else.
The problem with a Seiko watch is that it will never be as accurate as a phone (true for all watches) and everyone always carries a phone, so it is not an ideal keeper of time.
It's not collectable enough to appreciate in value or be remarked upon by other enthusiasts (with some exceptions within the lineup). Usually you're looking at spending $2500 just to enter this space but there are exceptions.
It is not more functional than a smart watch or as disposable so it is not really a good economical choice.
With all that being said, if you like the watch you should wear it- it's meant to be enjoyed.

seikos are great
solid watches, tons of designs, affordable prices, in-house movements, and they're a brand with a lot of heritage
haters ITT need to put some respeck on seiko's name, they almost single-handedly annihilated the swiss watch industry and the big names (rolex, patek, AP, etc.) in the 1970s."Psai is the love child of Rick Ross, Ghandi and Oz" - Phoenix9369

If it's an automatic, it's a perfectly serviceable entry watch.
They do make some nicer stuff. Any of their "prospex" line divers are sold choices.
I respect an entry level Seiko way more than some crappy fashion brand480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP
