Never thought I'd say this but seriously considering leaving NYC due to politics.

Moved here about 6 years ago to not only a lot of economic opportunity but also HBBs walking all around the block. Made good money, partied a lot, experienced different cultures, made good friends, and everything. It was like being in college except the parties were more fun and girls hotter.

We accepted for a while that De Blasio is just a bad mayor but the vaccine mandates has me thinking that this is just the start. Pretty soon, you'll likely need a vaccination card to even leave the city or the state itself. The politics are so bad that they have made this city unenjoyable, unlivable, and unbearable.

It hurts too because I cannot think of very many US cities where you can:

1. Meet a lot of HBBs.

2. Be single after 30, party, and no one really cares.

3. Enjoy a great bar and nightlife scene.

4. Pretty much live your life without having to be pressured from outsiders that you need to get married and have kids by 30.

I could deal with the lockdowns and even the rising crime rates but I cannot deal with the forced vaccinations as well as a future where you might not even be able to leave the state without the nazi proof of vaccination.

De Blasio is the worst mayor we have had in modern day NYC history.

Crime? I lived there for 9 years, half in downtown. The only crime is where black people live, not trying to be racist. You see very little crime in the north side areas.

Weather? Ok, I'll give you that. Winters are brutal. However, summers are better IMO because there's no trash outside all day stinking up the streets. Chicago is much cleaner.

Politics are chit, but Chicago isn't doing vaccine passports.

I've never been to Chicago but the warzones/politics make it unattractive. Brb cops can't even pursue non-violent criminals. The winters also don't sound good. Big turn-offs imo

I lived in Chicago and have thought about moving to NYC for a while, but BLM/COVID has made Chicago the better city without a doubt. NYC is the best at making friends, hooking up, nightlife, but Chicago wins out in terms of politics and not being robbed by Tyrone who just came out of jail 2 hours earlier. Chicago the robberies happen in South Side. NYC crime can happen anywhere.
