The base for any team trading for Wilson is giving up at least 3 first rounders. I think that's definitely fair to ask for. What do you *******s think? Also, at least 1/3 of the league has called to ask about a Wilson trade.
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-wilson-trade/When Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson went public with his desire to have a voice in personnel decisions and his frustration with getting hit too much earlier this month, word was that the Seahawks were unhappy about it and that led some to wonder if it was the first step toward a departure from the team.
Wilson said the question of whether he’s available in a trade is for the Seahawks to answer and teams have reportedly been asking. Michael Silver of NFL Media reports that one-third of the league has called the team about the possibility of a Wilson trade.
Silver adds that those teams have come away with the belief that the starting point for any serious conversations would be three first-round picks. That’s a bit different than word earlier this month that there was no chance that the team would trade Wilson, although it’s unclear if anyone has conveyed a willingness to move that number of assets to Seattle in a trade.
Trading Wilson would require the Seahawks to take $39 million of dead money onto their cap, although waiting to process a trade until after June 1 would allow them to push $26 million of it into the 2022 season. Silver also reported that the Seahawks got Wilson’s message and that there is an opportunity to alleviate his concerns before any trade would be on the table.

I think a trade will go down this off-season. And it will be at a time when everyone believes the trade is dead. Honestly I don't know what the compensation would look like but since all this news broke, I've fancied the idea of a Russ for Watson trade.
Edit: just read the last paragraph about all the dead money. No thanks, Jeff.

I can't imagine how ****ing pissed off Wilson would be if he were traded to the Texans.
I agree on disliking the players demanding more money, signing, and then wanting to leave, but I can't hate the man for wanting out when his team refuses to get him better protection. Wilson ends up running for his life often enough in a sport that's obviously very dangerous.
What I REALLY hate is when players sign a contract for X amount of money, perform extremely well a season or two later, and then say that they've outperformed their contract and demand more money.
Because he could become a HUGE headache if he just decided to not play. He's made enough money that he could afford the fines and whatnot.Last edited by Lunatic; 02-23-2021 at 12:52 AM.

IMO only Mahomes is worth 3 1st round picks but if some team is dumb enough to make that offer Seattle should take it. Would be really cool to see Wilson in LV. I wonder if the Raiders could get him for 2 1sts + a used Carr?

Ultimately, Wilson's worth is what another team is willing to give up to get him, so I guarantee he's worth at least 3 firsts. I wish the Saints had 3 firsts to give up . I'd be all for giving those up to get him, but Loomis and Payton have made moves that put us out of contention.
Carr probably wouldn't be what Seattle wants, IMO.AcetylCoA gets reps

Three firsts doesnt sound unreasonable, the picks would likely fall in the 20s or later. It would take a team with a particular situation to make that worthwhile. One with a stacked roster that just a QB away from being a real contender, basically like Tampa pre Brady
I dont know if anyone meets that brief right now, the closest would probably be Colts and Rams pre their trades
For this reason I cant see it happening6'1, 205 lbs

I find it hard to believe these teams can’t make it work with their franchise QBs. Too many egos and not enough common sense. Wilson wants more protection, as he should, why doesn’t he say something behind closed doors before he goes public? If he did why are the Seahawks such idiots and letting it get to this point? Tell him this draft will be offensive line focused and make sure you grab a few guys you really like along with looking at some free agents. I cannot imagine the Seahawks are dumb enough to screw this up.
That being said I think that 1st round picks are WAY over valued. There are plenty of misses in the draft, so unloading 1st round picks for a franchise QB that’s proven is not a poor decision.*Only drive manual crew*

I've always been in this camp if " why take it public". QBs always seemed to be the an extension of the coaching, but seems like it's not suprising that they do this too now.
However being a good loyal employee seems to be giving too much leverage to team GM who can make trades for you behind your back without telling you. So in ways I'm starting to ease up on my criticism.

This is my gripe with the whole situation. There is only so much money to go around. Most of these Superstar QBs get their contract and the first few years are lighter hits to capitalize on the current roster and fill holes. Subsequent years the cap hit gets huge and the team has to let talent go.

Right
By all means get the contract you deserve if that’s your goal. Unfortunately the cap doesn’t work the nba where you can just force the owner to pay a luxury task. You can either take a bit less and hope the team does something useful with the money you saved or take it all and get what you get.
But these guys want it both ways

I have zero issue with players getting theirs. I just think they could probably get the same leverage behind closed doors in most situations (seems like probably not for Watson). Maybe I’m wrong, but definitely side with players over teams when all these contracts aren’t guaranteed and you can be thrown out with the trash the second they don’t want you anymore with minimal repercussions. All this in a sport where your career can come to an end in the blink of an eye.

I don't know yet if there is a right way or wrong way to throw your team ownership and GM uder the bus when there's a disagreement. Leaking passive aggressive Instagram and twitter posts just seems so juvenile though. I always go back and read direct from the source if I can, from what I read what Wilson said was hardly controversial. Wilson was just doing interviews and his comments didn't seem to just burst out of him.
https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/02/09/ru...nnel-decisions
about being hit:
"Part of it, like any player, you never want to get hit, that's the reality of playing this position, ask any quarterback who wants to play this game," Wilson said. "At the same time, it's part of the job. I've definitely been hit—I've been sacked almost 400 times."
When asked if his frustration was with the Seahawks franchise, Wilson answered, "I'm frustrated with getting hit too much."
and about being involved.
"At the end of the day, it's your legacy, your team's legacy," Wilson said. "It helps to be involved more. That dialogue should happen more often."
